And yeah, I know Tony beat me to the punch.
I consider Lax a good, good friend. We talk on the phone frequently just chattin it up about our families, baseball, and of course college football.
We share a strong bond in that we attended the same high school although I graduated 5 years earlier than Lax did. He'll quickly point that out to
you too, just to make sure that everyone knows that I am older.
Unitl Friday night we had never met in person.
Lax rolled up to the house Friday evening in a rig that would have made Cousin Eddie jealous. When he asked fme for the house number on my street earlier
in the day I told him not to worry about it; that I made sure he wouldn't miss the house. He knew what was up right away. He knows me too well.
I proudly stood on my porch behind the SC banner, beer in hand when Lax walked up with Mrs. Lax and all the little Laxes in tow.
I can't believe I allowed such an SC hater into my house...and I can't believe he stepped foot in it.
Bottom line though...Lax and family were just awesome and they had to leave way to soon. His kids were well behaved and very polite and everyone
got along as though we had done this many, many times in the past.
He did forget one thing though. He forgot to rack my new bride. She came into the house about 10 minutes after their arrival with 4 pizzas in hand,
wearing a USC jersey of course. I thought it was a very nice touch and Lax was most appreciative of the pizza and her attire.
As far as the other topic that came out of Lax's post...I'm pretty sure I would throw back many beers with pretty much anyone in here.
Back in the days of the Elba board I made a roadie out to SoCal for an 'Elba-stock.' It was a very, very good time.
Anyway, that's about it. Thanks for the kind words Tony. It was great finally getting to "meet" you.
