At age 42, I can't believe what time, gravity and lethargy have done to my once personally overrated physique. I wish I had the body and the stones to strap it on and go for it on the DivIII gridiron like that dude. But my football days are over. Hell, my shoulder hurts after I throw passes to the boys for a couple of hours.

Speaking of my boys, both are playing tackle football this year. The youngest inherited my bear-like body frame and sloth-like speed. He is being groomed as an offensive tackle. And he likes it. My oldest, who is tall and rail thin (fucking mailman...), came home from practice yesterday with purple ribs from a helmet shot he took running a crossing route. He got his ass absolutely handed to him by his own admission, but he was proud that he held onto the ball and didn't cry. If it were me, I'd be typing this Jsc810-style from the hospital using a straw held between my teeth because the rest of my body was encapsulated in plaster.

Rack football. Unrack bruised ribs. I spent some time on eBay tonight searching for a flak jacket.
i went to the beach a couple years ago and my buddy pulls a couple mitts, a baseball, and a bat out of the trunk. so, we play outfield length catch, shag flies and stuff for about an hour and a half. i'm thinking, man i gotta do this more often. i love baseball, this is great. maybe join a league.

the next day i couldn't lift my right arm more than 6 inches away from my side. spent the next day watching DVD's, drinking orange juice and eating advils like they were M&M's. i felt like such a wuss.

My kids are in their 3rd and 4th years of tackle football, and on the same team for the second time in 3 years. Mine and the wifes problem is the oldest keeps re-setting himself in line during the tackling drills so he can hit his younger brother.
Look in to the Adams Flac jackets and blocking vests or the Schutt back plates to protect your kids midsections

If he shows a liking for a pinch between the cheek and gum, take heart in your swimmers - but bar the door when behemoth roadside skanks come calling on him.
