They just don't get it

You know, after this whole Michael Vick fiasco, I would figure that some of these athletes would try and do a better job of avoiding trouble.

Lance Briggs totals his brand new Lamborghini, flees the scene, calls a tow truck, and then calls the police to report it stolen

After Rafer Alston was arrested less than a month ago for assaulting a parking attendant, he gets into an altercation with a man in a New York bar and then stabs him.

WGARA? Dude can ball, and when all is said and done, that's all that really matters, ain't it?

Before transfering to Fresneck State, "Skip To My Lou" played a year of juco ball at Ventura College, and was perhaps the player most responsible for them winning the state tournament (CA jucos don't compete beyond the state championship). I went to several games that year, and saw Alston play like a man among boys, despite being only 6'1". He went 6 for 6 in three-point shots in one game I attended, and attracted a few major college coaches looking to recruit (I saw Henry Bibby at one game when he was coaching USC, and Jerry Tarkanian was there at another, "assisting" his son, who was head coach of the team VC was playing). Alston was no angel back then, making the local news often for minor indiscretions. As far as I know, he and Cedric Ceballos are the only VC alums ever to make it to the NBA.

So he gets a pass for assault and stabbing.
