Seattle Times coaches questionnaire (link TO HOT BUTT SEX)

if in fact 40+coaches were polled not a real high response rate to all the questions....but interesting to a degree where the more ready opinions were to be had. though, in my stats/quant methods class as a Master's student expectations for survey research (like this) without quid pro quo goodies like a gift certificate from Target or straight up money is about 25%. anyway, i pulled this off a Sooner board (i'm less interested in the Pac 10 officiating and UO game than they are there--thought it was interesting):

Question: Which conference, in your opinion, has the most incompetent officiating?

Q: The NCAA has proposed a ban on text-messaging recruits. Do you favor or disapprove of such a ban?

The NCAA board of directors recently voted to uphold the ban, but it is likely to be voted on in January by the NCAA membership.

Q: Has the implementation of the Academic Progress Rate been good or bad for college football?

There was obvious dissent on this one. Advocates like the accountability of the APR, but naysayers hit it from all sides. "It is very superficial," one coach wrote. Another called the APR "expensive, complicated, overrated."

Q: The NCAA has kept the number of bowl games at 32 for the 2007 season. Is that too many, about right or not enough?

i think this was kind of interesting. as "an educator" for all the bluster you hear about student-athletes working two full-time jobs.....(implied premise is they deserve special treatment in the classroom--even though they have semi-plagiarism tutoring services in the AD).

i've had countless students who aren't athletes who work way more than that *coaches* estimate (40 hours a week)....just to even be in school and no free room and board, and training table.
