I am trying to plan a Christmas vacation for my wife, 3 sons and myself.

The boys ages are 17-21.

We want to go some place warm, preferably a beach resort with serious fishing.

What is Puerto Rico like? I have 3 free nights at a Hilton there!

lovely island. only problem is, it's chock full of PRs. Having grown up in Hartford, I can speak from experience that a place being chock full of PRs is a bad thing.

I stayed at a resort one the northeast side of the island and all the workers were friendly and good looking. Driving there though is another story. Imagine driving in the Hispanic slums of Dallas, Houston, LA, Des Moines, etc....and that's what it's like. A lot of crappy homes, a lot of trash. Once you get to the resort, however, it's pretty nice.

yeah, the tropics are pretty much off limits to darwin. problem is, we are so fukking evolved and productive that we have pretty much put chuck on waivers for a half century or so and it's really starting to show.

I've never been to the "big island", but I hear it's pretty nice?

Ahhh yes, good ole New Jersey. One year there was enough fo me. Too many immigrant gooks, hajii's/hindu's, russian idiots that crowd the roads. along with the corrupt politicians. Many of the locals are fed up with the place and are moving to the Carolinas.

Puerto Rico... My dad lived there for 3 years as my grandpa was a B-52 navigator stationed at Ramey AFB. This was back in the 50's and I guess the island or AFB was a nice place to live back then. He went back there for a reunion with the other AF brats a few years ago. He loved it there but I don't think he went off the base.

There is an old fart that I worked with in New Jersey that owns a house in PR. He was a Frogman/UDT guy before the SEALS became the name. He doesn't rent out his house but is there for 5 weeks then shows up to New Jersey for a week or two before he goes back down. I guess he knows that PR is much better than living in Jersey. That alone should tell you something about how badly NJ sucks.
