OSU freshman quarterback Antonio Henton has come to Ohio from Georgia. Henton has fit right in with the Buckeyes and already has a nickname.
Antonio Henton
"Steamin' Willie Beamen," said OSU offensive tackle Alex Boone when asked Henton's nickname.
The nickname comes from a character in the movie On Any Given Sunday, and Boone says that Henton resembles the character to a tee.
"He can run, he can throw, it's awesome," said Boone.
"He can run, he can throw, he can do anything."
Henton's ability to run and throw is impressive. Now if he could just communicate with his teammates.
"Antonio is from Georgia so I have to learn his language," laughed OSU tackle Kirk Barton describing Henton's accent.
"He's got that old drawl. I like him, he's funny," Barton said.
Boone agreed.
"Oh man, it's different, believe me," said Boone.
"Willie speaks a little bit different than the way we do. It's funny to listen to him talk because sometimes he just confuses himself and then I'm lost."
OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel is impressed with Henton's early development.
"He made some nice plays today, made some things happen," said Tressel after the jersey scrimmage.
"I think he's further along than some guys we've had in the first spring of their very first year. I'm impressed with the way he learns the system, but he obviously doesn't know it all," Tressel said.
It was dumb but it isn't like he did something thuggish. The kid tried to buy a bj, I'd assume he isn't married so I just don't think it is THAT big a deal. Chew his ass and warn him to keep his nose clean or-else plus suspend him for a game. Players have been doing this stuff forever, the only difference is that now it doesn't get covered-up. It doesn't mean sweatervest isn't running a tight-ship. If you start getting a succession of arrests then worry.Sky wrote:You've got to be fucking kidding me. For the longest time I thought Clarett was a bad apple, that Tressel was brining in quality guys who wouldn't do this shit. And I figured, if they were inclined to do stupid shit, the coaches would keep them in line. But when is it going to stop?
This is pathetic and to lose a guy who appears to be a great talent makes it all the worse.
Did anyone ever hear this guy promised to win the Heisman? I read it in a blog but couldn't find any articles to verify it.
Edit: Of note, this is the first time in a long time I haven't seen ESPN report/pile on a chance to highlight an OSU failure.
He was going to sign one of the dollars figuring that doubled it's value.Jobocky wrote:I read in another article that said he only had $19 in his pocket. Would have loved to hear the negotiation when he was done.
