"here's a 'good' PR friendly reason to fire me".

sin,

Fran

if I'm Bill Byrne: it's win-win for ATM. lose Fran, and for ethical reasons. double plus good.

It is definitely a win-win situation. The only way Fran gets out of this is to kick ass the rest of the season otherwise dude is gone and likely with with a cheap buy-out because of this.

I'm sure Byrne has a list of candidates going right now.

i know you need (how many?) $1500 memberships to keep a website and an email listserv going.

heck, that's what we pay here. right?

cue: sooner fan talking about improprieties is great irony......

but, i read the Aggie boards and as righteous as they are about their personal theories of Sooner conspiracy to whisk away good, wholesome Texas 4 star church going, meat loaf loving all-american boys (who really wanna be Aggies) straight to the Devil's Playground that is Norman, Oklahoma.....right back atcha. Jackie Sherrill was misunderstood. he loved Aggie tradition WAY too much to ever jeopardize the school.

Nothing dumber than giving out inside information through an actual newsletter and then have a money trail connected to it. And of course those boosters wouldn't use this information for gambling purposes either...that would be wrong. I'd pay a thousand bucks to Lloyd Carr to know how Chad Henne's leg is feeling today and not look to use that information in my favor in any way...it makes perfect sense. Geez, if Martha Stewart gets jail time for inisder trading info...shouldn't this warrant something more than just a slap on the wrist for Coach Fran? The NCAA should be all over this big time.

it ain't like that. the original story i saw was in the San Antonio Express-News. sites like yahoo cannibalize other sources.

yahoo doesn't employ "journalists".

Yep. What KC said.

Yahoo picked up the AP rewrite of the SA Express-News story, as did most other news media outlets that couldn't do their own story.
