Small payback for Nebraska's past sins against Mizzou....:twisted:88 wrote:Up 34-6 and they fake a FG and score 7. Wow.

Werd....I hope Pinkel goes "Ol' Ball Coach" and goes for FIDDY.War Wagon wrote:That was for the "kicked ball" game.88 wrote:Up 34-6 and they fake a FG and score 7. Wow.

I welcome the pouring it on. Something has got to get the attention of our university president to fire our AD, so that we can finally fire Callahan. I'm going to love how Callahan will spin this. It'll also be really interesting to see how our AD spins this. When Ball State lit us up for over 600 yards, he taped his normally live call in show because he was "out of town on business." Yeah right...

For the love of God Pinkel, get Daniel's ASS out of the game and roll Patton out there to get some good reps!

By the way, I'm surprisingly not angry about this performance. I welcome games like these from now on. It's the ONLY way for the bleeding to stop. The Callahan regime must bleed and bleed more this season for something to get done.
And you know what? I'm not even saying that Callahan has to go. I'm saying that he needs to realize that changes need to happen. He's tied up for 4 more years, but all of the assistant's contracts expire this year.
Here's what I'd suggest:
1. Fire Cosgrove, the DC. Never hire your mediocre buddy after firing a DC that had a killer year. Hire someone that is emotional and teaches guys to tackle low. This tackle high stuff only gives short gains two more yards and big gains 5 more yards.
2. Fire Elmmacian, our DB coach. When teams throw towards the DBs instead of throwing it out of bounds because they may get a pass interference call when the DB doesn't turn around, you know something is wrong.
3. Fire Wagner, our O-line coach. When your team gets pushed around constantly and you don't give your QB time to throw, then something is wrong.
4. Simplify the play book. When you open up both halves with a false start, then there's a problem. We've also burned a lot of delay of games this year. When it takes Callahan 15 seconds to relay his 10 word play call in to the team, there isn't much time left to snap it. It's also a problem when your good receiver recruits haven't seen the field yet and walk ons are starting.
5. Give play calling over to another person. Callahan has some good game plan ideas, but his adjusting and play calling during games is piss poor at best.
Of course, I would prefer that he gets fired outright, but that doesn't seem likely unless a big donor steps up.

Nobody gives a fuck about what Nebraska must do.
You just got plungered.
What I'd do, I'd head for the basement.
BUTTFUCKED IN THE MOUTH, no other way to put it, BUTTFUCKED IN THE MOUTH.
Our D was an utter joke, Mizzou made it look easy and the score could have been worse.
Our O was even worse, Mizzou has a first-rate offense, at least the D was embarrassed by quality. Mizzou's D hasn't done jack but we couldn't find the freaking endzone once? Unbelievable. Props to the Mizzou-D for really stepping it up.
Unfortunately our dumbass AD has married Callahan so we probably won't get rid of him. But our D-staff definitely has to be toast after this season. Fuck you Pederson, you talked a bunch of shit and haven't back it up at all.
Personally, I'd say can both Pedey and BC then bring Bo back. Hell I'd take Turner Gill at this point, he is a better HC than Callahan. Buffalo, once the worst program in the country is actually improving, which is more than I can say for Neb in year-four of this regime.
Rack Adelpiero and War Wagon. You guys seriously took us to the woodshed. I didn't expect a win but thought we'd compete. I couldn't have been more wrong. Nice game on both sides of the ball.

You mean, you don't give a fuck about Nebraska must do. You are the eternal underachievers of the Big 12. I'll be shocked if you guys win the Big 12 championship in my lifetime.

2 North Dakota
3 North Alabama
4 Chadron State
5 Nebraska-Omaha
6 Valdosta State
7 Delta State
8 Northwest Missouri
9 West Texas A&M
10 Carson-Newman
A 10 team race right now.
Carson-Newman, North Dakota, and GV are playing the best football right now.
UNA has been struggling on offense and with our starting RB out for the season, it is not looking good heading into a two game stretch vs. Delta State and at Valdosta State

Well I need to post this disclaimer from last week, juuuuust to be sure and let the Missouri contengency know where I stood and what my thoughts were on this fiasco, but BIG double digits would have been much more appropiate.Cornhusker wrote:Think being the key word here.TheJON wrote:Well, my picks are back and here is my first week picks to help you beat your bookie....
9.Nebraska +6.5 over Missouri
This will be a close game. I'm undecided in who I think will win. While Nebraska has a crappy defense and Missouri has a solid offense, I think the Huskers can score with them with a balanced offense.
I KNOW Nebraska doesn't have a balanced offense. They haven't rushed north of 150 yards the last 3 games. That would included Ball St. and Iowa St. To have any chance they have to get over that number and no turnovers.
And "crappy defense" is being entirely too kind.
Missouri by double digits.
I didn't mean to hide from this thread but WTF can be said except Callahan and his staff have done nothing but force feed BS down our throats. It's disgusting and unacceptable and the masses are about to erupt in Big Red country.
You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time.
Callahan will be in deep shit come Saturday afternoon about 4 PM after Okie St. hangs 500+ yds. on Cosgrove and another 40 pts. in Lincoln.
Last week NU's associate Athletic Director for Fund Raising (Paul Meyers) and a guy that has the ear of NU's largest boosters, after 15 years of service, for no known reason, quit out of the blue. A die hard NU fan and alumn.
The speculation I've heard is "did Howard Hawks, (NU's version of Boone Pickens, just shallower pockets,) maybe tell this guy the cash flow isn't going to Mr. Pederson any longer" and thus his job just became much more difficult, and the tap will be turned back on when he, (Meyers) replaces the much disliked Pederson.? Was he "advised" to jump off the Titanic before the iceberg strikes? Hmmm...leaving him high and dry and appearing quite wise and ready for a new job with powerful clients.?
If I'm Steve Pederson, I'm not sleeping too well right about now. And that POS he hired will be looking for work as well...I hope.
Pedey lost me back in his first year when he didn't have the sack to fire Solich right-away, rather letting new coaches getting hired only to undermine the staff and wait for an opportunity to can them. He gave two different reasons at different times and purposes for why he canned Solich before the bowl without stating the real one(he couldn't get away with the firing after another win). He then talked a bunch of shit about improving the program that he has failed to back up. Then he lied about repeatedly getting shot-down by his candidates. Since then he has done nothing but protect BC. That extension was garbage.
Pedey has made as many enemies as friends, and booster-bucks for our facilities-upgrade have not come flooding-in. Now our fundraising-director is jumping-ship and our biggest booster is pissed? Maybe we will be able to lose Pedey. I'd love to see Osborne brought in to re-unite the huskernation and for him to bring back Pelini.
Though unfortunately Pedey and BC are probably here next season here are some other candidates I'd support:
Peterson from Boise
June Jones from Hawaii
Norm Chow-wanted the job back in '03
Kelly from Cinci would be a longshot, Jagodzinski from BC isn't likely but might be interested.
I'm sure there are some assistants in the NFL who are good enough but aren't holding-out for a NFL-HC job but I don't follow it enough to know who they'd be.
Hell if Gill can keep what was the worst program in the nation competing overachieving I could even take him over BC.

You know Dan, it's so damn hard to say who should or could be a good candidate for the simple fact the people in this state long for what was. No matter who it may be, there will be those that view him as " an outsider."Danimal wrote:Pedey lost me back in his first year when he didn't have the sack to fire Solich right-away, rather letting new coaches getting hired only to undermine the staff and wait for an opportunity to can them. You live here, you feel it, and I truly believe someone with the understanding of what this program means to the 1.4 million people of this state, needs to take the reigns. Problem is who is it?
There really is no one in the family tree as Osborne never lost assistants and they all retired together or were eliminated by Solich or Callahan. You could say, as you did, Turner Gill, but would you truly feel comfortable with that move at this time?
I really think this shit won't get fixed until Pederson is gone as well as Callahan. Osborne is unemployed in 6 months or so right? He'd be a hell'va of an A.D. Or maybe Paul Meyers, we need someone who cares for the program more than their own special interests. I thought Pederson was going to bring that attitude, but he is a power monger and it shows with his stupid actions, begining with the coach search. Sloppy, single handed. He felt you say "Nebraska" and they'll line up for the job, but found out that was not the case.
Maybe you heard 1620 yesterday, but a caller made a very interesting comment of the parallel of the North Carolina basketball fortures to NU's football program the last 10 years.
Icon appoints loyal assistant to HC, only to lose the national championship game.
Expectations unfulfilled fire coach.
N.C. hires Brad Doughety who cuts-off the old time N.C. family.
Pisses people off.....unrest through-out the program.
Hires Dean Smith disciple Roy Williams and all is well.
Who is our Roy Williams?
We are in trouble, no doubt.
Gill wouldn't be a preferred hire, I put him at the bottom for a reason. But if at the end of the year the absolute abomination that was Buffalo has a respectable record I'd say he has definitely proven something as a coach and I'd consider him a candidate.
I think Bo, Chow, Peterson, or Jones would be quality hires. Like I said I don't know the NFL well-enough anymore to know likely candidates from those ranks.

My fellow NU fans, the problems are deep and wide.
I've heard quite a few things. If you want specific details, PM me. I'll try to fill you in.
On the radio and in print, if you read between the lines, you'll see that.
1. The players aren't buying in even though they say they are
2. The coaches openly disagree with each other, so one player can ask two different coaches and get two different answers.
3. Players on offense are often confused. Purify alluded to that today when he said if you're not sure of what you're doing you're going to make mistakes. He said he had to ask Nate Swift what his route was at one point in the MU game, then he dropped the pass because he still wasn't sure. Then he backtracked and said that he's sure now.
There are other obvious things that are wrong that we all know, so I won't rehash.
Basically, though, you better hope for a 4-8 or 5-7 season for anything to happen, then it's SP's head on the block followed by BC. From what I've heard on the radio and elsewhere, the phone lines have been on fire from alumni, former players, former coaches calling powers that be to express their displeasure.

I'm not convienced, standing in the blowing sleet and snow w/ a wind chill of -5 with a colorful designed short sleeve shirt and a nice floral arrangement around his neck in Lincoln on a November Saturday afternoon would be just too much to resist.Believe the Heupel wrote:June Jones ain't leaving Hawai'i. He loves it there. Like a LOT. He's already turned down interest from a bunch of other places, the NFL included.
But that's just me.
In a way I'm sorry we got lucky against Ball and Wake, ya our record would be horrid but it could get changes done. BC would be gone and quite-possibly Pedey with him.At Large wrote:My fellow NU fans, the problems are deep and wide.

Don't forget, Tommie Frazier is available too. I guess the Doane thing didn't work out too well, but I'm sure he'd be a great fit at UNL.Danimal wrote:Gill wouldn't be a preferred hire, I put him at the bottom for a reason.
