Excuses? Ummm, no.

I turned to my wife in the middle of the 3rd quarter and told her SC was gonna lose.

Another lackluster effort. Penalties and turnovers will do it to you more often than not.

Oh and Stanford just seemed to want it more...period.

Stanford and ND? Shit.

I'm not surprised Dorrall shit his bed. I thought UCLA would win of-course but you can never truly trust Dorrall's team to do what you expect. Props to ND on finally getting a W and keeping their nose to the grindstone.

USC surprised me. Stanford has played USC close before but I thought this D was too good to let a Stanford score with the game on the line. How said is it that Stanford can do what Neb couldn't come close to? How far we have fallen. Props to Harbaugh on a signature-win halfway into his first year.

There's no way you can pin this on the defense.
You keep turning the ball over and that will do it to you.
FIVE fucking turnovers!!!

USC has a first and goal at the 9 just before halftime and they couldn't score. They were stopped om 4th and goal from the 1.
Booty had a pass intercepted in the 3rd quarter and was returned 31 yards for the TD.
Oh and throw in a blocked extra point.

Tough? A little but when "your team" plays like that what are you gonna do.
They didn't deserve to win and I could see it coming early in the game.

They've shit the bed two weeks in a row now.

To be at both of the past two games, and watch us shit the bed like we did in both...gotta say we needed to lose this game.

Rack Stanford.

I'm gonna have to disagree. As much as Booty sucks and makes bad decisions, the defensive scheme is no longer working.

Once upon a time, there was a team called USC that blitzed and things. When they did, this thing called the secondary was a lot more effective and stuff. Now that we don't blitz and, like, make quarterbacks hurry and stuff, our secondary is getting picked apart and teams like hang out and do things and stuff.

That USC team like, attacked and junk, like they were playing to end up with more points on the board than the other team. Now its like we are trying not to let the other team, like, have more points on the board than us and things.

Botty does suck but in his defense he's getting no help from the guys who are, like, supposed to catch stuff that gets thrown at them. There's this dude named Turner who was like really popular in high school and teams wanted him. Wow I wonder why people thought he was so cool 'cuz I think he kinda sucks and has never not sucked and things. When, like, your best guy catching passes was a receiver in high school and turned into a tight end when he gets here it is generally not a good thing and stuff.

Ronald Johnson does look awesome, though. Pretty much the only thing I saw last night that got me excited.

I'm not saying the D was the primary problem. I'm just saying I thought the D was too good to let a Stanford score when the game was on the line. Overall the O lost the game.

The loss of Chow hurt, now you don't even have Kiffin. When you keep losing guys it is hard to keep playing at the same level. I'm sure Chow would have Booty playing at a higher level. The receiving corps is big and athletic but ineffective. You guys would've blown open your game with us way earlier if guys actually caught the ball. Maybe somebody should take a trip down to Lubbock to check-out mad-scientists Leach's wr-drills. He does goofy crap launching tennis-balls at his wr's to improve their hands.

True Jimmy but the defense didn't give Stanford 8 points either. It's not like Pritchard and that powerful Stanford rushing attack lit up the Trojans D.
What the defense is not doing is creating turnovers though.

The offense just sucks. Receivers dropping passes (like your boy Turner), receivers running shitty routes, Booty throwing behind receivers, Booty overthrowing receivers, Booty throwing high to receivers, Booty hitting as many defensive hands as he does his own receiver's hands...

Just very frustrating but like you said in another post maybe SC needed this loss. It should wake them up but we'll see. This isn't even a top 10 team right now.

I do understand and respect what you said about the defense...there's more than enough blame to go around. I think in respect to last night's game there's just a little more to pin on the offense.

No senior leadership. I think you have to sit Booty and Turner, and let the kids play. I was just talking to a friend and we agreed...Booty is a 5th year senior throwing 4 picks is inexcusable - and why hasn't he learned to put some arc on long throws.

We've gotten too conservative and are underutilizing some great talent. I feel bad for the kids who have to sit behind the older guys.

Notre Dame has got to be feeling good about things right now. I'm not a big fan of playing a rivalry game on the road, when your rival has nothing to lose.

Good times.

Good times indeed.

I can see Turner sitting more than Booty. I'm just not sure the coaching staff has the stones to sit JDB. If it truly is about competition then I say open it up and give Sanchez the reps and give him a chance.

Second guess? How do you figure? This team is playing like shit.

Booty isn't going to improve at this point. Sanchez is the future and has more upside. I'd let him get dirty. You'll likely lose another game this year either way but with Sanchez getting valuable experience the prospects for '08 are better.

Rocky Seto has to go, how many 5 star DB recruits are going to wind up at USC and taught to always go for the hit. Fuck head, teach them that sometimes they need to go for the ball, what good is going for the hit on 4th and 20 when the guy caught the ball 21 yards downfield?
A defensive end is leading the Trojans in Interceptions because Rocky Seto is not his position coach and when he sees a ball in the air.... he tried to catch it.
Mark carrier tried to get the DBs coaching job and Carroll decided to stick with Seto, perhaps Mark should be called afterall, maybe he could teach the trojans DBs to play the fuckin ball

Sit Turner......
Sit JDB
Play Sanchez.....
Isn't that second guessing? If not then I'm wrong......yet again, but that's the way I see it.

OK that's cool.

What I (and others) are saying is they've got guys out there that are clearly not getting the job done. It's not just a one-game thing, this has been happening pretty much all year.
Open it up and give other guys a chance to see if they can do better.

Well when you have that much talent use it. That's been Pete's M.O.....hey if you're not getting the job done then there's
someone else that's just as good waiting in the wings.
You know, it's funny that people ripped Kiffin and celebrated when he left, now you see people questioning the play
calling and throwing when they should have been running the ball........Are people in condom land unhappy with Sark?

Oh, and pick up the phone......

I don't know the answer to that question Tony. Maybe Jimmy can speak to that.

It's a little bit curious that Booty was the guy they stuck with after he fractured his finger in the 2nd quarter but whatever.
Sanchez will probably get more reps in practice this week. I guess they'll see whether that finger was or is a problem or not.
