Hey ET- is this the card you recommend?

its for a laptop on my network. I recall you touting cisco as one of the best,and I'm not at all happy with the linksys one I have - it keeps dropping off the network. I think it gets too hot, because it happens far less during colder weather.

Yes, that is in fact a very nice one. If you are only looking to sniff, you don't need the A/B/G combo. Of course in your case I think you said you had A at home so you would need a card that supports A.
The nice things about the cisco cards are that they scan the network for signal on their own, vs every other card that needs the software to force the cycling, which means its better at picking up signals and finding networks. Also its software/hardware is built/written correctly so it works very well and it works great with sniffing software and allows for some of the more advanced features of the 802.11 protocols.

Thanks dude. It's worth the extra cash to get one that is reliable. BTW - you were right about the linksys one I bought 18 months ago. It wasn't made by cisco and it has proven to be less than reliable. I'll probably eventually upgrade that one, too.
