Perilloux is very unimpressive. Maybe it's just coincidence that he sucks when I watch him.

Close game between Cal and Oregon St at the half.

Ohio St could very well be #1 after today.

I cant point at one game on either Cals or Ohio States schedule where I think their opponent can beat them. Cal may have a battle with Arizona State, who's the toughest team on Ohio States remaining schedule? Michigan?
I think its the Bears and the Buckeyes playing in New Orleans.
Oklahoma and Oregon in the Rose Bowl
LSU and USF in the Sugar Bowl
Florida and Cincinnati in the Orange Bowl
Hawaii and Big 12 North winner in the Fiesta Bowl

Does that include the game that CAL is currently losing?

28-21 Beavers midway through the 4th...

With the way things are going, nothing is a sure thing and no team is safe. You can't assume anything...shit happens and it's happened to a lot of teams this year.

Unreal...LSU, Cal, Missouri, Cincinnati and UConn all fall from the ranks of the unbeaten today. We're down to just Ohio State, Boston College, South Florida, Hawaii and Arizona State (playing right now against Washington).

Absolutely inexcusable play call with a freshman QB (who came from my archenemy high school... RACK him). Could they have set him up to fail any more?

Stupid, stupid coaching.

The kid made a bad decision...I don't pin that on Tedford. The Bears had one shot at the end zone with a pass play and instead, Riley ran the ball which is just as bad as a sack. They should've tried to line up to spike the ball instead of rushing the kicking team on the field. Hate to rip a frosh QB but Riley will go down as the goat.

Yeah, there was a whooooole lotta things that could have gone wrong there, eh?

And the way the Shepherds had defended the red zone all game, there was very little chance that anything good would come from that.

So, what better time to see what kind of stones a kid playing his first game has? I mean, it's not like there was a nearly-gauranteed tie for the taking, and it's not like the National Championship was on the line. Not like Cal had any playmakers to give them a great shot at an OT win at home.

Wait, it was just like that.

That's a play for an experienced QB. Not a virgin (sup Scholzie).

Horrrrrrible coaching.

Beg your pardon?

The Gameday crew mentioned that Cal was trying to get greedy with that drive and squeeze out a TD instead of the sure thing. If that was Longshore in the game instead of Riley, I don't think you see the same result. The kid had a massive brain fart. He could've easily thrown the ball in the front row like he did earlier in the drive when he had nothing there. He should've known that if you don't have an open lane to the house to run or have an open receiver, you just throw it away and go for the FG attempt for the tie. You can pin some blame on Tedford for putting that kind of pressure on a freshman but ultimately, Tedford isn't out there to hold the kid's hand. Tough break for Riley...he made a valiant effort to get them down the field and converted on that 4th and 17 back in their own end of the field.

Props to the beavers on a big win. See dins? I told you they weren't the Baylor of the Pac. Sorry mtool, hope you enjoyed your couple hours on top.

Props to Archer and Kentucky too. Kentucky's offense is as good as any in the country. LSU had some horrid playcalling on that last series, wassup with that Crowton? Kentucky did seem to want this one more.

This could be the most clustered BCS ever at the end of the season. But I'm betting the upsets aren't done coming yet.

Not the coaches fault.

Could he have lacked the "onions" and played it safe...sure.

I'm pretty sure that the QB for a Big Time program like Cal knows at least as much about the college game as us. Therefore he knew that of all the possible outcomes of the final play, getting tackled in-bounds is the only way his team loses without an opportunity to tie it in regulation. I'm sure Tedford told the kid...."look, let's win this thing right here. If the shot to the endzone isn't there, heave the rock through the endzone or out of bounds and we'll take this thing in overtime". Thing is the kid fucked up. It happens. Not everybody operates like a robot under pressure.

Tedford went for it and lost. Cal will lose at least one more game this year making it academic.

Fuck Cal.

If we should learn anything about this season...don't look ahead. Ohio State has 5 games left...all against teams that are currently 5-2 overall starting with Michigan State. Michigan is the only other conference unbeaten and they have a monster game in Champaign this Saturday.

Also, pray to every g0d that Mike Hart can't play on Saturday. If he's well enough to dress, he'll put up 100 yards with only one good wheel.

no, memo to zook:

get your kids ready to play. They came out flat all day. They had no reason to believe their hype.

and when you stop Iowa and force them to punt, decline the penalty, dont let them have another shot to make the first. horrible play calling on Nois side.

Mendenhall got little chance to make big plays. stupid QB keepers around the corner al lday. Ive said since season started, Juice is their weakness. When he breaks a tackle, he has no speed to go the distance, they need to bring in mcgee more and more and let him get the chance to take the QB position, hes a missed tackle away from breaking it with the ball in his hands. Throwing isnt his biggest asset.

And you have the ball inside their 10, you have a running qb, you need to kill some time, WHY THE FUCK DO YOU THROW IT?????? looked like the MU game all over, chance to win and he throws a int at the goaline!

One of the rare times I ever rooted for the Spartans...and I think I might actually do that this weekend as well. Glad to see OSU-MSU is at 3:30 and Michigan-Illinois is at 8...I don't have to wear out the clicker on Saturday.

Are you serious? OSU has recently played a home and home with Texas, actually got on a PLANE and played out west, and have a future home and home with USC.

Show me one SEC team that would EVER attempt anything like this, and I'll try not to break my jaw after it hits the floor.

Oh, I'm a devout SEC-hater, but I'll never accuse Arkansas or Tenn as being nearly the pussies the rest of the conference are.

Heck, most SEC players get lost tring to find their local airport, since they so rarely see it. But the cell phones of Arky and Tenn players actually self-correct for time zones on an occasion.
