That's the supposed fact. I don't know yet if it's true yet. I'm not going to celebrate unless I can confirm.

that would be pretty heavy shizz.
but, sometimes you gotta crack some eggs to make omelettes. also, this looks to be a competitive hiring market off-season, makes sense to get started on it early.
if you are Nebraska you don't want to be looking at 3rd's and 4ths. like last time.

ps to NU fan, your not getting Jimmy L from South Florida
NU while in name is a better program, but with the talent in state he has at his means, its not a step up! BCS conference where he will have a shot at bcs spot every year

How do you buyout a contract that's only worth between 3 and 4 million at 9 million?

Adel,
Where. Are. You. Getting. This. Information?
For example, if you read it somewhere on the intranets, go to the page you read it on, highlight the URL (thats the series of letters and characters in the long, rectangular box at the top of your computer screen that starts with "http://"), hold down on the "Control" key on your keyboard and press the "C" key while still holding the "Control" key. Next, let go of both keys and come back to this thread. Click on "Post reply" and then in the text box, Type "Here you go" and then hold the "Control" key down and press "V." Then hit the "submit" button.
Pretty cool, huh?

I have heard things. We probably won't hear anything official until tomorrow. It's not Callahan, but SP, Coz, a few assistants, or anything in between. I have a source myself who has heard things, but nothing official.

Dude, get over yourself. We're not asking for a first & last name and an SSN. Just tell us, generally speaking, how you heard about this. For example...
"A co-worker of mine has close ties to the NU athletic department and he says it's all but a done deal."*
*Not that we're automatically going to believe it just because one of your fellow TGI Friday's busboys says it's true, but you get my drift...

Dammit Adel you better not be teasing me with this Pedey, Cally, and Coz gone stuff. That would be crueller than the plungering we got in Columbia last week. Fingers, toes, and nads are crossed in hopes of this being true.

I was looking for news on this topic and I found this, which at least answers HFAL's question...
Just days after Nebraska opened the season with a 52-10 home win over Nevada, Callahan received a new, five-year contract for $1.75 million a year. It runs though the [sic] January 2012.
And here's a novel idea: I'll even provide the link to where I got this information from...
http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/vi ... p?t=289967
I'm no mathematician, but $1.75 mil x 5 years = $8.75 mil. That's a pretty hefty price tag, but it'd still be the smartest move Nebraska's made since Dr. Tom stepped down...

I don't think it's a full 1.75 million, though. I've heard that it can be up to that if he gets certain benchmarks, which is why I've heard it's only going to cost half that, but I could be wrong.

I was being sarcastic to Chip, i had a source, doesn't matter who it is, untill i see if its true, now that it was, its a booster who went to NU. He's a big donater, so when he calls me to gloat or talk shit, its straight from the horses mouth!

Pedey had pissed-off too many people, he had to go. When you act like a prick people don't tend to want to give you the benefit of the doubt.
I think they are doing a wait-and-see on BC-and-company. I'm sure we'll have some different coaches on D next year, and maybe a different guy or two on O. But with BC's fat buy-out he could get the opportunity to revamp. I think the rest of the season will tell the tale for BC. If the team plays hard and wins some games he stays, but with more games like Okie State even his fat buy-out won't save him.

I think Callahan is gone. They are talking about him and his staff on Pedersen's own show (hosted by 3 other guys tonight) as if it was a foregone conclusion that this experiment isn't working and any AD worth his salt will clean house.

The ATM game is as winnable as anything we have left. This team either stops the slide now or they likely don't even limp to a .500 record. I don't think the book is closed on BC, but he has a foot in the grave and an ugly performance against ATM could finish him off. If BC gets the O back on-track and the D puts in effort, we actually, you know, win. BC could save his job. But the level of play will have to be way better than what we've seen for the last month. He is probably done.

I'd say the chance of that happening is slim to none. They have already tried to simplify things and it's led to more confusion on defense and less production on offense. Plus, it's no coincidence that the team has regressed now that he has his own recruits. The players that actually had a work ethic and were taught actual technique are gone (The losses of Greg Austin, Kurt Mann, Jay Moore, Stewart Bradley and Adam Carriker and others were huge.) So unless someone has given Callahan a smart pill that enables him to suddenly teach his players proper technique, a drive to play as a team and confidence in the coaches' schemes, I don't think anything will change.

The unfortunate reality is that in hiring old buddies and/or recruiting-specialists we traded away coaching. Pedey was all-about recruiting and that is the result. Thanks again Pedey, so mutherfucking glad to see you gone. If BC stays he'll have to revamp significantly, but I doubt he gets that shot. I don't see what we will do to motivate and get prepared against ATM that didn't get done against OSU.
