Home network workgroup names

Post by Mister Bushice »

I just realized that one of my puters on the network has a different work group name.

Questions:

1 Does anything else besides changing the workgroup name have to be done?

2. Why am I able to see the shared file folder on this computer that is in a different workgroup?

No. Go into your Computer Properties (rightclick on My computer) and change the name under there. Then reboot and it should be set to go. If you don't reboot, things will not work correctly a lot of times.

Workgroups are just grouping names. There is nothing that says you can't browse the computer from another workgroup and access its shares. Its not a security thing.

They're allowed to have off-site team building activities together and charge the entire cost to Corporate Overhead.

Thanks. I'm not having any network problems, but I'm not a network wizard either.
