if this year isn't an argument for a playoff, i don't know what is.
all bullshit on the "regular season is the BCS playoff"....yadda yadda yadda....that shizz is in the dumper this year.
when the first BCS rankings come out and you have players and coaches saying......"that's not something we can control...." the system is stupid.
the top teams should be thinking they control their fate by winning games....not hoping. that's how competition should be.

I can appreciate some of the love for the Wolverines but I wouldn't consider them a top 15/16 team unless they win out going into the Ohio State game. They're definitely getting better and were able to win without their best player on Saturday.
1. Ohio State (8-0)--Played arguably their best game of the year on Saturday...the score might not reflect it though.
2. Boston College (7-0)--The ultimate "prove it" game on Thursday in Blacksburg.
3. LSU (7-1)--Miles rolled the dice on that last play but the gamble worked out.
4. Oklahoma (7-1)--An ugly win against Iowa State but it beats a pretty loss.
5. Oregon (6-1)--Huge fourth quarter 'carried' them to that win last night...an elimination game coming up with USC.
6. Virginia Tech (6-1)--They've worked their way back up the ladder after an early loss...a win on Thursday would make them definite title contenders again.
7. Arizona State (7-0)--Shouldn't have trouble with the slumping Bears next week...UCLA, USC and Oregon still lie ahead though.
8. South Florida (6-1)--The feel good story may not finish with a happy ending but the Big East title is still in play.
9. West Virginia (6-1)--Still can't get a grasp of this team but a conference title is still within reach.
10. USC (6-1)--Yawn, another stomping of Notre Dame...huge game in Eugene this weekend.
11. Kansas (7-0)--Very quietly moving up the rankings each week...could very well be 11-0 going into the Missouri game.
12. Hawaii (7-0)--Definitely the worst of the five remaining unbeatens but can still put another wrench in the BCS if they win out.
13. Florida (5-2)--Tebow returns to the Heisman race with his performance on Saturday.
14. Kentucky (6-2)--Having only two losses in the SEC nothing spit at.
15. Missouri (6-1)--Dismantled the best passing attack in America.
16. Virginia (7-1)--Early season loss at Wyoming still looks bad but this is a team still capable of winning the ACC.

Again my rankings are based on a silly concept, how good teams look on the field of play.
1- LSU
2- Oklahoma
3- Oregon
4- Ohio State
5- Virginia Tech
6- USC
[the undefeated but still not sold on group]
7- Boston College
8- Kansas
9- Arizona State
[/the undefeated but still not sold on group]
10- Florida
11- West Virginia
12- Kentucky
13- South Florida
14- Missouri
15- Auburn
16- Hawaii (they suck but as long as the 0 remains in the loss column I'll drop them in at 16)

I'm also confused with his positioning of USC, if the criteria comes down solely to "on field play." The games they've looked good were against nobodies.
There's just no clear cut #1 team right now. I have to put OSU #1 due to a combination of factors including head coaching, undefeated record in a BCS conference, and superb defense. Statistically, Michigan St has one of the best rushing offenses in the nation, and they didn't score a single point on that D. Hell, they could barely even move the ball. It was incredible.
LSU is a very close 2nd. In fact, if they were #1 I really wouldn't complain. The best teams don't always have the best records. But they've also shown they're beatable. With as much talent as they have, LSU still has shown weaknesses.

RACK!
Which is why I don't participate in rankings threads -- because I don't have enough time to actually WITNESS every one of the top 30 teams or so every week.
But I'll tell you what... try and tell me that just about any of the Top Ten, particularly the Top 5, wouldn't absolutely shithammer BC.
Just not seeing it. I think LSU would not just beat BC, but humiliate them. Matter of fact, I think BC would be out of the discussion weeks ago if they played in the SEC or PAC10, as would West Virginia.
Just my "feeling," nothing scientific or statistical.

Auburn is 4-3....4-3 is not a very good record and I know who "they" played....Never the less, still 3 loses.......That's like Domer fan sayin' that "almost" win v USC a couple years back is one of C. Cheeseburgers bestest loss...................
*bestest=humor...........

They likely won't have the chance. My "feeling" is BC is going to get plunger-raped on Thursday night.

I've got that strange "feeling," too.
It's all fun and games until you play a traditionally top-tier team on the road. Time for Cinderella to get her ass home.
And SYNW is making me laugh.

Did VT get an Offense??????
I can't help but think they are ranked because of the horrible incident. That said, I see BC winning by 10....
