gameday tonight Holtz was saying something about Fran saying "The only thing harder than finding holes in OU's offense is finding their players a summer job"

Stoops replied "wehn you're not talking about big XII championships, you gotta talk about somethin"

this was done in the off-season....

anyone have a link or anything more in depth?

It's a nearly week-old story. Actually, much longer than that, MD.

Stoops unworried by remarks
Franchione's words don't serve his team as motivation, he says.

NORMAN -- Texas A&M coach Dennis Franchione used the rubber-chicken circuit to poke a little fun at the Sooners last summer. With the Aggies coming to Norman Saturday, would Bob Stoops pin Franchione's comments to the bulletin board?

"No," Stoops said. "We don't need to do that."

Speaking to a Houston booster club Aug. 1, Franchione addressed OU's then-uncertain quarterback situation. Then, according to the Houston Chronicle, he said: "That may be the only question mark they have, other than what jobs they are going to work this year."

The reference was to the Big Red Sports & Imports scandal of 2006, which got Rhett Bomar and J.D. Quinn kicked off the team, and OU in trouble with the NCAA.

"It surprised me," Stoops said. "He can clarify his comments. That's not for me to do."

Franchione said: "That was light-hearted comments with a bunch of Aggies in the room, I certainly feel bad about it. It's not my style to do that. I have great respect for Oklahoma and their program."

Asked if his statements might serve as motivation Saturday, Franchione said: "They've got a lot to play for other than that."

At OU's media day Aug. 3, Stoops wouldn't address Franchione specifically. Stoops did say: "There are a lot of people who have a lot to say when they don't have a Big 12 championship to talk about."

Good to know Granny and ESPN are right on top of the situation. :meds:

Just givin' you some shit, bro.

OU is going to roll on Saturday night. Granted, it probably won't be 77-0, ala '03, but it should be an asskicking, nonetheless.

agreed.

at the beginning of the week i picked aTm to cover...i changed it this morning after reading up on some statistics and, seeing how aTm could just as easily be 4-5 as oppose to 6-3....plus the game is on national television, should be a nice turd they lay.

i'm actually pulling for okie st. to win out until we play them....and then crush their hopes of ANY shot of a big XII title.

i wouldn't be surprised at all to see Fran replay the go for broke trick play/special teams gambles that he did (quite effectively and impressively to be honest) at Bama in Norman in 01 an at Kyle in 04....all of which makes his current coaching acumen all the more puzzling.

he certainly has nothing to lose.

though, i think the 20.5 line is a bit hefty for an OU team that hasn't beaten anyone by 20.5 since Utah State or Tulsa.

I bet OU covers. This game means a lot to Stoops on a personal level and quite frankly aTm just isn't very good.
