How have your teams done?

According to Scout OSU signed the #2 class with Buford, Offut, Mullens and Crater...another nice haul by Matta...

what about your schools?

According to Rivals the tO$U class checks in at #6. They have IU slotted at 15th.

The gem of the IU class is Devin Ebanks, whose game is most often compared to Rudy Gay. The rest of their class are more complimentary players. Matt Roth could be a Lee Humphrey clone though so I'm excited about his future as a Hoosier.

I wonder why the disparity...is scout better than rivals for one sport or another?

I can't deal with recruiting class rankings. I prefer to wait to see these players with my own eyes and make my own judgements. Too many players with high accolades come in and just suck and some that were lowly ranked are very good. It's nice to know your school is getting some blue chippers and if you get enough you are bound to be good because the "experts" won't be wrong on everybody. But anymore, I just wait and see when the kids get to campus. Kansas has a pretty decent freshman this year in Tyrel Reed. Cole Aldrich the McD's AA is freaking huge. But he looks a bit slow. He'll be alright but in my opinion he won't be a superstar. Anyway I don't know which recruiting rankings are more accurate, I tend to think they are all barely educated guesses.

I tend to know the Rivals stuff most because the IU board I post on is part of the Rivals network. Rankings are typically far from uniform across the various services so I put the most value on RSCI, which compiles all the services rankings and averages them out. Their final list won't be out for a long time as they wait until after the kids have finished their SR years to compile their winners list. Like Mook said recruiting is FAR from a scientific endeavor but the hit rate on the 5 star kids tends to be fairly high.

Wazzu's class is allegedly the 7th best in the Pac-10 according to Rivals. I don't think Tony Bennett cares. He's got the State of Oregon's best 08 prospect, Michael Harthun, who was Kyle Singler's South Medford teammate and was the difference in the 07 title game that featured Singler and Love. Also beat out Michigan and Notre Dame for Mychal Thomson's son, Klay.

i don't think Oklahoma's will rank much overall, but Capel got a verbal from Willie Williams: 5 star PG SG.

while Oklahoma has been a legit top 15-20 type program the last 30 years maybe (it's true).....big time recruits have not been the Sooners' calling card.

along with last year's McD's Blake Griffin....nice building blocks for Coach Capel.

Sooner basketball "fan" will always be howling for "Billy Ball" and a lotta jumping and dunking and after the first conference loss will be posting on Sooner boards that Bob Stoops should coach the hoops team or wimmins coach Sherrie Coale ("she's hawt, too", growls Cletus the Sooner) could coach the men....but for those of to whom the program is dear....it's good news.

Williams had offers from Kansas, Zona, UCONN etc. OU loses far more of these recruiting battles than wins. though, to be fair to Kelvin Sampson who was always bashed for recruiting. Kelvin had a lot more 2nd place finishes on serious players than was EVER given credit for by Sooner Cletus. that don't mean squat at the end of the day, but hey.

Kansas really wanted Williams.......that's a nice little coup for Capel.

Not to be a damper, but according to the Scout Top-100, Harthun is the 4th best '08 player out of Oregon

#86 Paul McCoy
#91 Drew Wiley
#95 Brad Tinsley
#96 Michael Harthun

On Rivals he is ahead of Wiley, (Harthun #115, Wiley #131), but Tinsley (#93) is still ahead of him.

Harthun had a strong junior year, and seemed likely to be the top Oregon player, but he got outplayed in summer ball by the other Oregon players. Still a solid pickup though, I've seen Harthun play a handful of times.

And he's PERFECT for TB's system. A combo guard who can score. A gamer too. Lit it up in the title game with some kind of soft cast or brace on his wrist, his shooting wrist.

And not to be a damper Jay, but DD wins the Heisman and Oregon plays in New Orleans if he doesn't go down like a Minneapolis bridge.

Too soon? For both?
