Ferentz to UofM is my take

Les Miles unless Cal doesnt tear down the trees and then Tedford will bring a spread offense to Ann Arbor cause he knows that none of the big 11 teams can cope with a spread

Rack, that gets my vote for post of the year.

Ferentz is a GREAT coach. The problem is his assistants. If Michigan gets Kirk, they'll most likely get Ken O'Keefe as OC. To be honest, I want Ferentz to stay, but if he doesn't get rid of some coaches I'd rather he just left. Give Ferentz some good assistants and he'd win anywhere, guaranteed.

He is just too loyal to his coaches. You can't keep the same coaches for 9-10 years. 90% of our coaching staff that came with Kirk to Iowa in 1999 is still here including both coordinators. That's almost unheard of. Sometimes changes need to be made and a shakeup in the coaching staff is one of those needed changes.

It sounds like this is a real possibility, but I still think Michigan will look elsewhere and I'm not sure Ferentz will even interview. Michigan is NOT an NFL job and Ferentz has turned down plenty of interview opportunities with good NFL franchises. He's paid about $3 million at Iowa, so it's gonna take some cash to get him to leave. There is not even a 1% chance that Ferentz would have considered UM a year ago, but now that he's starting to struggle at Iowa and the fans are really getting on him, there is a chance this year that he might if the right job came open.

One thing to remember, his son has signed an LOI to play at Iowa next year so that could impact his decision as well.

You're right, I meant he was a verbal. Either way, he has a son coming to play for us next year.

It's possible he'll take the call, but I'm just saying don't think for a second if Michigan offers him that it's a lock he'll take the job. Like I said, it's more likely he'd accept it this year than last year because of the heat he's taking from the fans and media now, but Michigan is really gonna have to pay to get him. He's not going to take a drop in pay to coach at Michigan. Besides, he's got a lot coming back next year and a very favorable schedule. We were the youngest offense in the country and have a lot of good young players back on defense. Our struggles this year had a lot to do with youth and a lack of senior leadership.

I think in the end, Ferentz will be at Iowa and Michigan will get themselves a very good coach. But if Ferentz leaves, I'm not one bit worried about it. We can pay a coach more than most schools can and the incoming coach will be inheriting a solid roster with a weak schedule. So we'll find someone good. Besdies, like I said, I'd rather have a different head coach that will bring in new coordinators as opposed to Ferentz and the current coordinators. What I really would like to see is Ferentz stay AND can his coordinators or at least the OC. But if Ferentz takes the Michigan job, you won't hear me whining about it. In fact, I'd probably root for Michigan more than I have in the past. I like Kirk. He's done good things here and I'm confident he can get this ship turned around quickly. And he's a class act. What more could you ask for in a coach at Iowa?
