Neb did the usual. No halftime adjustments and got schooled in the second half. Props to CU for making a bowl. CU is hardly back but they are headed in the right direction anyway and will become a real player down the road.

I don't know if BC had a shot or not of staying going into this game but I can't believe he'd have a shot coming out of it. Nothing sadder than a team with no D that pisses down it's leg. BC is gone, change is coming. I don't think we'll be all-that next seaon but we'll be better than this, we'll have a D, and we have some balls.

weird game, that's for sure.

i've got the CU radio post-game on to hear Hawkins talk about himself and how great he is and all the Eastern wisdom he's accumulated. maybe quote Abraham Lincoln, Sartre, or Porky Pig.

Cosgrove is awful. IMO, NU seems to really lack team speed the last 5-6 years. everytime i see them play that's what come away with. i don't know if i'm right or wrong, but they look a step slow on D.

Here's a newsflash for you: The Corn is gonna suck again next year too- with or without Callahan

No, Husker football is back. Callahan will leave and the next head coach will bring in 100zillion 7 star recruits and they will make a run at Ou's 50+ game winning streak!

We all heard it the past 2 years, they are back!

Nice take Cuda, hater posts lend so much insight to the board.

I didn't say we'd be back next year, and just when the fuck did I say we were back before? Crickets chirping? Ya that is what I thought.

I said we'd be better. Considering what an abomination our D was we have to be better. Coz is still stuck in the Big10 of the 90's. He is hurt significantly by BC not hitting regularly in practice and trying to practice like the pro's do. College kids gotta work on technique and go at-it.

What BC and company do at halftime I have no idea. He has never come from behind at the half , but he is good for a couple of these second-half piss-the-game-away embarrassments a year.

Ya we do look slower. IMO we employed very questionable S&C, Pedey brought how own S&C-guy from Pitt, whether it is his or the staff's decision I'm not sure but it seems we added bulk at the expense of speed.

As far as recruiting goes please find the thread where I am out trumpeting Neb's recruiting, and I definitely haven't been running any smack about recruiting. I follow what is going on somewhat but I'm not that big on it. It is no secret that BC can recruit but part of the problem is that what he sold was some sort of bullshit NFL training-ground(kids can be dumb). We got kids with more *'s next to their name but less drive to play hard-nosed, Nebraska football.

The only thing I have to say is that there is talent on this team to be way better than this. If we make the right hires we won't see bullshit like this season again. I'm not saying we'll see the kind of turnaround Stoops had when he took-over for the sorry Blake-regime but the W's will start coming again.

Then I'm an upgrade over whining, excuse-making Cornfan who adds nothing to any board

Bullshit. The Corn's best talent was on the field and got their asses handed to them...how many times this season?

The Corn's line-up is full of seniors. And in case Former Nebraska Student doesn't understand the implications, that means next year's Corn line-up isn't going to have much playing experience. It also means they're not going to have much talent either because Callahan was about as adept at recruiting as Gary Barnett was. The Corn is a good 2 years away from being where the Buffs were 2 years ago. You might as well reconcile yourselves right now to a good 6 to 8 years of abject failure on the football field.

Whining and excuse making? Where was I doing that?

Did you note the John Blake reference genius? His teams got rolled and there was obviously talent there. Like Blake's team we simply aren't well-run.

We do have a good amount of seniors, which was the reason this was supposed to be "our" year. The loss of experience will hurt. But we do have talented underclassmen. In case your simple-ass doesn't come around here enough you should know that I don't beat my chest much or talk shit, and I'd say I know a little more about my team than you.

Anyone that has knows watches this team week-to-week and knows how they practice/prepare knows how things could be done much better. We'll have a young squad next year that will take some lumps. But we won't tackle like old people fuck while working clueless schemes. We won't practice in shorts all damn week. We'll compete, and we'll get a decent share of wins.

First things first, as a UNL alum, if you put up 51 points, you better win that game!!!

Second, Osborne's meeting with BC tomorrow. I'm guessing this game cemented his future. I saw a sign today calling for Pellini. I think it would be a good call.

Props to the Buffaloes. I'm sure a team whose defense gives up 51 points will do great in a bowl game. Eh, at least you got to one. Scoreboard you.

As an outsider....what makes you say this? This years team may be the worst defense in recent memory. At least 3/4 of the guys will be back, and the incoming guys?

A lot of the playmakers and big-hitters on the defensive side didn't start or played sparingly because they didn't practice Cosgrove's system right, so they started slower guys who practiced well. However, those starters made mistakes on the field yet continued to start. On top of that, Cosgrove's system called for the players to take a step back a lot of times instead of attacking. The defense should have a new attitude next year regardless of players coming back. They are going from the worst defense ever at NU. It can only get better next year.
