WTF?
Looks like Miles has landed himself a big raise from LSU.
So is the "oh so evil" Kelly the #1 guy for Mich now?

ESPN always likes to be the first to report everything...gotta wonder where Herbie got his info.

You can't knock a guy for staying at a place that has so much to offer. It's definitely a sweet gig in Baton Rogue. The most myopic Wolverine fan needs to realize the Michigan job isn't better than the LSU job right now and it would be hard to pry someone away from that. Miles has the Michigan ties but that doesn't guarantee anything.

I'm still holding out hope.
As far as I'm concerned, nothing is set in stone until all these games are done. Miles could simply be quieting the media to keep his LSU team focused for today's game.
But did anyone watch that video? This guy was born to be the coach at TSUN.
He's got a "damn strong" football team. And I'm sure he'll take them around and play any sucker in this country.
Have a grate day.

he was a bit ambigous in the sense he didn't say, i'm not going to be the coach at michigan. he's so pissed that he had to call a meeting to address his players when he could've just said so and been done with it all.

wow, maybe you Big 10 guys are starting to catch on. he's a baboon. that clip is only 4 years ago.

It was my understanding that Martin was allowed to talk to Miles after the SEC title game so is he just saying the report that he's going to be named Michigan coach is false or is he is stating he has absolutely no interest in the Michigan job? I guess we'll find out next week what happens...for now, he is the LSU coach and he's got a big game coming up in an hour.

ESPN with incorrect info, fucking impossible.
and the Big East had the best bowl season, winning all their Bowl games before December 24.

I think it's quite possible that someone close to the UM athletic department purposely leaked a bunch of this heresay to the ESPN guys to make it a lot harder for Les Miles to consider this as an option. Very well could have stemmed from LLLLLLoyd himself.
Again, I wouldn't be surprised if Miles is right back in the equation after today. But I also wouldn't be surprised if one of Carr's choices is hired either (Ferentz, DeBord, English).
Fun to watch unfold, nonetheless.

He was pretty fucking emphatic before the game saying he was going to be the LSU coach next year.

LSU wasn't going to let him go without a counter-offer. I'm sure he will be making some nice coin.
So who now other than Kelly?
I don't know if he'd leave BYU for anybody but Bronco Mendenhall is a hell of a coach that would be worth looking into.
Paul Johnson has an awesome offensive mind and he is a winner. Find him a grade-A DC and you could be in good shape. Too bad Les is already supposed to have his mitts on Tenuta.
I'm sure there a couple good coordinators in the NFL that would be interested. But I don't follow the NFL enough to know who they'd be.
Lane Kiffin and Bobby Petrino have been rumored for a return to college ball. Michigan is a hell of a job, I think either one could be had. Petrino would likely cost a pretty penny though.

^^ Bridges burned. Though that would've been one helluva hire.
Schiano might take a look, but I think he's holding out for the PSU job once JoePa goes fully blind.
I don't think UM is considering Kelly seriously enough.
I really think Ferentz might end up with the job.

Ferentz would be ok with me, as a third or fourth option. I'd like Martin to take a look at Grobe.

i haven't been too gung-ho about miles, but now that he's off the table i'm a bit disappointed.

Miles: "There was misinformation on ESPN and I think it's imperative that I straighten it out. I'm the head coach at LSU, I will be the head coach at LSU, I have no interest in talking to anyone else. I have a championship game to play and I'm excited about the opportunity of my damn strong football team to play in it. And that's really all I'd like to say. It's unfortunate I had to address my team with this information this morning. With that being done, I think we'll be ready to play. There will be no questions for me; I represent me in this issue, please ask me after. I'm busy. Thank you very much, and have a great day."
Unless there was some other sort of press release or official announcement from the AD, this quote from Les is pretty fucking open ended, imo. That's the epitome of 'buying more time'.

Les would be a bigger villian than Saban if he left after saying all that. Especially with the authority in his voice and the word that he is close to inking an extension. At this point, I'd consider Miles-to-Ann Arbor a dead issue.

I thought he was pretty clear when he later said, "I will be the head coach of LSU next season."

Even with all of the coaching double talk we've seen recently, I really want to believe Miles with what he said yesterday. He wants to erase any doubt and I think he's sending a message to the Tigers fan base as well as the Wolverine fan base that his heart is in Baton Rogue. If the guy wants to commit himself to that job, more power to him. It's probably a very tough decision for him to make considering this is probably his only chance at getting the job since the next guy at Michigan is probably going to be there for the long term unless he's a complete disaster. LSU, much like Michigan is considered a destination job...Miles can be at LSU for as long as he wants if he produces. There really isn't a place for him to go up from he's at right now. Win a national title this year and he's becomes a folk hero in Louisiana and he'll be a greater hero if he hangs around to win more than just one title.

even if he was talking out one side of his mouth yesterday, he's probably a bit more committed to its veracity now that he's more than likely playing for a natl championship. there's no way he can bail on lsu now and i doubt michigan's going to wait that long to hire a coach. even if by coincidence they do, the media's obviously going to interpret that as miles-to-michigan, and we'll have to go through all this "misinformation" again.

Absolutely...the combination of Miles statement yesterday and the fact LSU is back in the title game, MichiganFan needs to move on and think about the other candidates. Les Miles won't be the next coach of the Michigan Wolverines.

I know that Michigan has plenty of cash but I'm it appears LSU was more willing to dole it out. You throw in that LSU has lucked(playing for it all with two losses = luck) into playing for it all, he is going nowhere.
The only thing that differs Miles from Kelly is opportunity, dude has just won at every place he has went.
Grobe would be good too. Wake is one of the hardest BCS-programs to win at in the country-a small school with second-rate facilities. Scouts and analyst REALLY like this guy.
Paul Johnson-an offensive guru and a proven winner. Get him a quality DC and look-out.
Bronco Mendenhall, defense-minded coach that has done wonders at BYU. I don't know if he'd leave but you never know.
Chris Peterson is the current top-choice for UCLA, don't know if he'll take it or not. He'd be worth looking into.
I like Bo but would have taken any of these guys before him. They have all proven they can get the job done and would get the job done at Mich.
I just saw where Ron English was supposed to interviewing with Arkansas. My guess he's getting jerked-around as the token minority-interview. But maybe they are serious about him.
