he's a sophomore, not to mention he wouldn't put those numbers up if he played for michigan and debord kept taking advantage of his skills by calling zone stretch left on 3rd and 12. plus, he's gay.

Anybody watchin this? I swear Herbstreit looked like he wanted to kiss Tebow.

BTW - when Tebow was 12 he could throw a football 50 yds. from his knees [/meds]

Good for him...I have no beef with him. Hopefully he's humane towards the Wolverines on New Year's Day...

No surprise, dude is quite the physical specimen and certainly deserves the award.

I do feel a bit sorry for McFadden, though. He deserved it as well, and will probably take out his frustration in the Cotton Bowl, much to my chagrin.

Agreed. Hard to argue his winning the Heisman.

McFadden is the poor man's Archie Griffin - finishes second two years in a row. I think he's the best all-around football player, but you can't discount Tebow's ridiculous stats either.

stats don't mean dick. it's a popularity contest based on population density and fannies in front of the TV per capita for advertising dollars.

dizon connor laurenitis

Total tkl-149 136 103
solo- 107 66 39
assisted- 42 70 64
TKL4loss- 11 11 6
sacks- 4 7 5
int's- 2 1 2
td's- 1 0 0

who would you pick stat wise to win an award?

Stats don't tell the entire story, but they have to be part of the criteria.

sure, but explain how Laurentis wins the Butkis Award if stats is your argument?

the stats are embarrassing. he's clearly #3 among the candidates.

How did you gather that stats were the sole basis of my argument? I thought it was pretty clear that I selected McFadden as my Heisman based on him being the best all-around football player, in my estimation.

As much as I liked Poz, I think there were more deserving Butkus candidates in '05. When he won it, I knew that an OSU guy would win it soon.

Dan Connor is a great LB - but Sean Lee is probably better.

that's not what i'm saying that you are saying. you said stats have to be part of the argument. i'm saying stats don't mean dick.

Charles White won the Heisman trophy getting 35 carries a game. you line up Billy Sims in the I and give him 35 carries averaging about 7.5 yards a carry compared ti White's 5?...you think Charles White wins that Heisman?

stats don't mean dick.

Charles White would have been battling David Overstreet for carries at OU in 1978.

Stats provide a certain objective measurable that should be part of the criteria. They shouldn't be all-determining, nor should they be entirely dismissed.

is numbers are fucking solid for sure.
completion % 68.5
29 TD's 6 INTs
here's the ones that say alot to me
800+ yds rushing 22 TD's no fumbles.
in the losses to Auburn,LSU and Georgia he scored 8 TD's,4 throwing,4 rushing.

He's a great player but most of the rushing TD's game about b/c Uf had no RB this year. Most of his TD runs were 5 yds are less, so w/ a RB his rushing numbers will go down.

No buts man....the first soph to win it and the first 20/20 guy in history. Just give him his due. He shredded FSU.

He definitely deserved the award this season.

Here's hoping that next year Beanie Wells washes away any chances of Tebow matching Archie's two Heismans.

I wasnt bashing him. Just saying w/ a RB they wont need him to run the ball inside the 5. Stop being so sensitive.

"if" is such a stupid word to use in sports, especially collegiate athletics. it's all situational, but how you react to the situations you're faced with determines whether or not you win the heisman, finish runner-up twice in a row, or ever actually get meaningful playing time. props to tebow, if only b/c heisman winners generally experience a let down. go blue without a coach...
