not by me. i thought it was interesting that Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette opened with G of F's natural's not in it. though, i think that film is about southern california and being sofia coppola in the 80's/decadence more than anything else. she's said enough that Lost in Translation was pretty autobiographical (which i think closes with a Psychedelic Furs tune--it's not Love my way but one before they sucked out loud with heartbreak beat etc.)....so, it's not a stretch.

edit: googled, it's ghost in you by the furs.

surprise, surprise:

Tab Benoit - For What It's Worth (Posted for the music, not the politics)

Tiny Bradshaw - The Train Kept A-Rollin' (Not really a vid, but the music's cool)

Yardbirds - The Train Kept A-Rollin' (Jimmy Page on axe, wearing Seinfeld's puffy shirt)

Nashville Pussy - Nutbush City Limit

Sparks - Dick Around

Angel - Magic Touch (For all you fans of Punky Meadows)

Hothouse Flowers - I'm Sorry

Dramarama - Last Cigarette (Shitty vid quality)

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac - Green Manalishi (Judas Priest did a respectable cover)

Webb Wilder - Tough It Out (Crappy vid, good song)

Bonus

Johnny Winter - Highway 61

nice guitar driven songs:

Rank and File - Rank And File
Deadly tune. Formerly The Dils. Dumped hardcore and went country. (Dils clip from Cheech and Chong :o )

The Snobs - Stand and Deliver
U.K. - 1964

The Outlaws - Law And Order
produced by Joe Meek - U.K - 1963

The Hunters - Teen Scene
Sounds like Joe Meek stuff but isn't. U.K - 1960

Troika - Prokofiev

Paul Simon - Call me Al

You will not be disappointed - this isn't the Chevy Chase fag version.

Whitey, indeed.

If you can't groove to this, ya' gots no groove.

As Smackie and I discussed semi-recently... now there's a one hit wonder for ya.

The local adult comtemp/mixed bag station (locally, privately owned, and has more of a loose playlist, rather than the same corporate bullshit that's on the exact same playlist in any major city... thanks, Clearchannel... funny how that works)...

Anyhoo, they still play Switchin To Glide every friday at exactly 5:00. I think they've been doing that, like since before I entered the workforce. Unless the corporate evil ones buy them out, they'll probably play that every friday at 5:00 long after I'm dead.

Was a lot more popular, say, 20 years ago, but back then (and to a very slight extent now), if you're in traffic downtown at 5:00 friday, everyone has their radio cranked with The Kings... it's just a tradition.

But as with the rest of you canucks, it's hard to tell if those guys are flaming homos, or just canadian.

At the same time Layne was giving the world his "I'm back"/apology tunes, Dins was coming down from one HELL of a multi-year bender... if you know what he means, you know... if you don't, you won't.

RIP, Layne

Is there a "youth anthem" that's withstood the test of time like Cheap Trick's does 30 year later?

I don't think so.

Amazing sound for a big-arena show.

Is there a more beautiful voice than Natalie Merchant?

The woman could be 80 years old and coming off a 30-beer/12-carton-of-smokes binge, and she still wouldn't hit a wrong note.

Of course, anyone in this forum could do a Springsteen song better than Springsteen, but still...

Closest thing to "soul" us 80's-kids had.
