Of course it was intentional. If there is one thing that unites the evangelicals it is a universal sense of victimhood. Now his base can get all enraged at the "persecution" he is "suffering". It's absolutely brilliant primary politics.

The guy has to be a polished bullshit artist to get where he is. But I like him better than Mrs. Bill or the negro candidate.
Unless I wanted the GOP candidate to win, then I'd pick one of those two. Because they are losers.

What's up with the "evangelical" tag?
Has "Fundamentalist" and "Snake-Handler" gone out-of-favor?

It was a freaking bookshelf. An "intentional" bookshelf, but a bookshelf nonetheless.
The guy's a Baptist preacher talking about Christmas and Jesus already, why does he need to include some oblique subliminal message?
To give your ilk a snuggie? Well, it certainly worked. Props!

What?
Little early to bring out the big bullshit guns, isn't it? Geez, and here I thought reading some of the comments from the YouTube crowd were off the wall.

His base? Persecution? Suffering?

Remove all crosses or designs that cross in the background of political ads!
Do not let the politicians blink!
Run all ads backwards before airing!
All Politicians must wear the same color clothing!
***
Of course, the bookshelf cross was intentional, get over it!
All politicians have something subliminal in their ads.

There's something subliminal here!

Look where his finger is pointing!

I kind of think this ad backfires!

Yea, and when his director ran through the blocking for that scene, the ONLY scene used for that commercial, he didn't notice that "bookshelf".
And when they ran it through their focus groups, nobody noticed.
And when his team reviewed the ad before posting it to You Tube and sending it out to their media buyers, nobody noticed.
Yet, nanoseconds after the ad hits the Interwebs, what do we see at the top of Matt Drudge's site?
HUCKABEE AD FEATURES 'FLOATING CROSS'... *
I'm sure it was all 100% coincidence that bookshelf was framed in such a way to make it look like a cross just like I'm sure Barry Bond's head grew through natural causes.

No you fucking retard, to do two things...
1. Remind the base that he, and not Willard Romney is the real Christian.
2. Generate controversy so that retards like yourself develop a sense that he is fighting for their values. Even if he'll leave them at the altar just like Reagan, Bush I and Bush II.
If there is one thing that unites the evangelicals it is a universal sense of victimhood.

Yea, you read it right. Ever since the Supreme Court ripped organized prayer out of the schools, preachers and politicians have made money hand over fist exploiting fools like you who think that you are being persecuted for your beliefs. It's a brilliant play that dovetails perfectly with the desire of Christians to emulate the life of a man who was, you guessed it, persecuted for his religion.
Now his base can get all enraged at the "persecution" he is "suffering". It's absolutely brilliant primary politics.

You watch. With that ad and the furor surrounding it, Huckabee just got a leg up in his pursuit of the nomination. Instead of talking about how he pardoned a murderer or how he doesn't believe in evolution, the press is talking about what a Christian he is. You couldn't ask for more as a politician running for the GOP nomination.

No, actually it says that there shall be no establishment of religion.

Well gee whiz, and here I was not feeling persecuted in the least for my beliefs.
Thanks for giving me a heads up about how I
should be feeling.
So, should I like be calling the ACLU or something?

He's right, George...you
did jump...your erstwhile honest building and loan business was washed out in the gigantic Sub-Prime Loan Scandal...you never had a chance...and when your sheep-like nervous-nellies actually elected a hardline Christer--a freakin' Baptist minister!--to be your president (rather than trust a woman, albeit a conniving, turbo-dyke, daughter of a drill sergeant), well it pretty much sealed your fate as a planetary species. Wakey wake, George, cuz hell is an eternity of reruns of a cloying fake fantasy (black and white) forged in the full rearing of the American Empire over the rubble of Nagasaki...every time a bell rings, Ruport Murdoch buys a radio station...
Harry can't help you now, George...

Nominating Huckabee or Romney guarantees a win for HillyBama next Nov. :(
I've been on the McCain bandwagon a long time - too bad he's not "religous" enough for the crackpots that make up the voting majority of my party.

Same here. McCain is my first choice, followed by Thompson.
