"goober" knowing a colloquialism was an extreme longshot.

And the “Seer” using a colloquialism that involved other men making his dick twitch was a given.

Why is Bellotti using UCLA to get a raise after a season they could have easily been in the BCS Championship game had his QB not gotten injured?

Your guess is as good as mine.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Could Oregon football coach Mike Bellotti be headed to UCLA?

The Oregon County Register is reporting that UCLA's athletic director flew to Eugene on Thursday to meet with Bellotti.

Bellotti didn't deny it. Instead, he issued a statement saying that he was focused on the Ducks' preparation to face South Florida in the Sun Bowl.

UO athletic director Pat Kilkenny will not say whether UCLA officials asked for permission to contact the Ducks' coach.

UCLA football coach Karl Dorrell was fired on Dec. 3.

The Bruins are known to have interviewed Temple coach Al Golden, Philadelphia Eagles secondary coach John Harbaugh and Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Rick Neuheisel.

Bellotti has been at Oregon since 1989, when he arrived from Chico State to become offensive coordinator.

Interesting.

I kinda doubt Bellotti is going anywhere, but you never know.

Although as far as "big time" coaches are concerned(and calling Bellotti "big time" is reallllly stretching the definition of "big time"), Bellotti is far from the highest paid. He is the highest paid state employee, but I think, from memory, that he gets perks and whatnot that bring his total compensation to around a mil. Maybe he wants more... dunno.

But it seems like also, schools seem to bring him in to the process to put pressure on other people to sign. Been few years, so maybe my memory is suspect, but didn't they bring him into the tOSU hunt last time, knowing full well they weren't hiring him, and knowing full well he wasn't coming. For some reason, he's always been "that guy."

Maybe he wants more money for having yet another Bellottiesque season. I'd have to look up to see when his last new deal was, but since the radio honks will probably remind me ten times today, I'll save the trouble. I don't think it was that long ago, though.

Big upgrade for UCLA, though -- Dorrell used to take the early part of the season off, and save his best work for later in the season. Bellotti always starts off hot, then starts taking vacation about Week 7 or 8.

If he leaves... I guess it was time. Too early to speculate much now, but I'd be all over June Jones if I were the AD looking for a replacement.... but it will be whoever Phil Knight thinks it should be. Maybe it's time for Chris Miller to step up... and feed his team steroids. Musgrave? A home-growner would be nice.

If he does go to UCLA -- enjoy Colleen Bellotti, UCLA. Just be careful on the roads.

Al Golden was a good TE at PSU - ND fans will remember him catching a TD pass during the classic 1990 PSU/ND game.

He ended up on the PSU staff, and he was briefly recruiting coordinator. Soon afterward, he took a job with Al Groh at UVA.

Joe Paterno likes to emphasize the family element in the coaching staff...so when someone leaves, he gives them the cold shoulder a lot of times. That was the case with Golden - there also was the feeling that he had left them in a tough spot with recruiting.

At any rate, some of the Paterno worshipers - namely his sons - talked a lot of trash about Golden for a few years. However, they appear to have made nice in recent years. I think that's a good thing, I felt that the criticism was ultimately unwarranted.

As for what he has done at Temple...any single game won during a season at Temple is a tremendous accomplishment, IMO. Golden is, by all accounts, an energetic recruiter, and he has shown some great energy and dynamism with his approach to gameplanning.

This year, they played PSU pretty tough. What does that really mean? It means that Golden and Mark D'Onofrio (another former PSU MLB, one of my favorites...now Temple's DC) did a good job gameplanning and dealing with an overall talent discrepancy. It doesn't take a lot to outcoach the Paternos, I must admit that in current times I find the gameplan and scheme approach at PSU to be in abject tatters...and Temple ended up losing...but there were measurable positives to be witnessed from Golden and his staff.

If you want a dynamic young coach who will recruit tirelessly, Golden is your man. If you want to hire a big name, look elsewhere.

If you want to evaluate his coaching ability simply by glancing at Temple's W/L record, then you're really not getting the full picture. Temple is a school that faces some real challenges - let's just leave it at that.

That’s all really fascinating, PSU, but the "Seer" needs to know if he can make your dick twitch? Al Golden that is, not the "Seer".

He'd have gotten an upset on UConn this year if not for inept officiating at the end of the game. I can see missing the call but not when you screw-up the review that is ridiculous. The announcers were just incredulous. But Turner Gill has beaten him both years. He'd be a better hire.

Bellotti? So is he serious or just trying to get more jack out of Oregon?

UCLA does have a lot of big names in the mix between Jones, Leach, Bellotti, and Chow. I can't see Golden getting a sniff up against those guys.

Hey, you're the one who uses it as some kind of football coach-divining rod.
