Frisco - not even sure what to say here.

Shall we leave it with a week-long sig bet? I can't even run smack...to be perfectly honest, I'm not real comfortable with the state of the PSU program right now.

Taunt at Paterno riles Penn State faithful
by DAVID JONES, Of The Patriot-News
Thursday December 27, 2007, 8:04 PM
SAN ANTONIO -- A Texas A&M yell leader, one of the uniformed male cheerleaders who organize the regimented cheers at A&M's Kyle Field, loosed a tasteless salvo at Thursday night's dual-school Alamo Bowl pep rally on the Riverwalk here that stunned hundreds of fans.
"Joe Paterno's on his deathbed! And someone needs to find him a casket!" screamed the unidentified yell leader over a microphone, first to gasps and then thunderous boos from the PSU fans. Neither audio nor video was immediately available. But Patriot-News photographer Joe Hermitt was there with many other media members who clearly heard the abrasive crack.
The man at the mike had been telling a convoluted fantasy story that was taking a long time and falling flat. Finally, PSU fans began booing and chanting "We are!..." At that point, the flustered yell leader fired back with his insult.
He and the other yell leaders then left the stage. Penn State cheerleaders replaced them, and one male PSU cheerleader remarked over the microphone, "I'm not sure what just happened there."
A&M vice president for student affairs Dr. Dean Bresciani later said by phone that all his school's officials were embarrassed by the incident: "We all have the utmost respect for Coach Paterno. Everyone from A&M was just standing there in amazement at what they were seeing."
He added that the yell leader, who was sent home with his parents, might have felt worst: "The kid just got carried away. As the words were coming out of his mouth, he was trying to pull them back in. This kid is in tears over what he did."
Bresciani said Texas A&M president Ed Davis put in a call to PSU president Graham Spanier to make a formal apology on behalf of his university.

Yeah, our OC will be HC during this one. I'm still excited to watch the game. I think it will be a good match-up with A&M's offense and PSU's defense. It is being billed as the largest expected crowd at an Alamo Bowl game of all time. That's not saying much though as it is a shit bowl. In any case, week long sig bet is on.
A&M will come out throwing the ball. I think they will be somewhat successful in this, but I hope they get some good results from the running game to mix it up. PSU's top 10 rush defense will be tough to break down, but if any team can do it, A&M can with McGee, Lane and Goodson.
I see PSU giving them a run early but A&M pulling away in the end.
A&M - 37
PSU - 17

I think your analysis is spot on. Justin King has been a disappointment at CB, although PSU's soft zone coverage doesn't do the DBs any favors. If A&M has access to tapes of the OSU and MSU games, it's pretty clear how one might attack the defense. Dan Connor, Sean Lee, and Mo Evans are excellent defensive players, but you knew that, having attended the IU game. If A&M passes their way into the running game, they'll probably put it to the Lions.
PSU has some promising RB talent in Evan Royster, Brent Carter, and Stephon Green. I hope a couple of those kids get a good workout tomorrow. Anthony Morelli, well, it's his last PSU game, thank goodness.

Then again, in 1999, I thought we had a good chance to knock off the Lions in the Alamo Bowl after they lost 3 straight to Minny, Mich and MSU only to be shut out 24-0. Bastard PSU fan who lived down the street (and one of my groomsmen) delivered the newspaper to my mailbox where the front page in the sports section had the Alamo Bowl article with a big 24-0 written on it with a Sharpie.
A&M has not fared well against good defenses this season. The t.u. game, A&M aired it out. The OC has said he has been working on some trickery leading up to this game. Trickery can only go so far in my book. I'll take a 2-0 victory as long as it is a victory. A&M in 2-9 is their last 11 bowl games, the last two to Kal and Tennesse being embarrassments. That shit has got to end.

The difference there? Jerry Sandusky coached his last game as DC. Joe took the clamps off of the defense in that game, and we got a taste of how things might have been had Jerry been able to run the squad the way he wanted - LBs flying everywhere, tight DB coverage, essentially, an aggressive approach. I expect the clamps to be firmly in place for this game.

Is it fair to say Morelli's biggest struggles have been with the matter between the ears? The guy has obvious talent, but his performances throughout the duration of a game...hell, throughout the duration of a quarter, are very roller coaster-like. He can miss the side of a barn as easily as he can shred a defense.

I think that's fair, Frisco. He has all the raw talent in the world, but he is very bad at scanning defenses, and he lacks the kind of instinct that most QBs start their college careers with.
There has been a voluminous debate on the topic on the PSU homer boards over the past few years. Anthony is a good kid, for the most part. He has kept his nose clean. I wish him well going forward. I fault Jay Paterno, the QB coach and quasi-OC, for AM's failures while at PSU. Either Jay has failed to develop AM's raw talent, or he has failed the rest of the team by seeking to develop a kid who just wasn't developing at the expense of overall success.
PSU fans have been hoping to get Pryor, or whatever the latest shiniest talent at QB might be. Personally, I think PSU just needs a kid who makes the easy throws, who has some good basic QB instincts...the kind of kid that seems so apparent in the MAC conference, or really, at most D1-A schools.
PSU has a recent propensity to recruit "project" QBs...in my opinion, this is because Jay Paterno seeks to make a name for himself as a QB developer...but his name is definitely mud, because the track record is poor.

The Alamo Bowl, per the norm, is a cripple fight.

A college-aged kid said something stupid? No really, I'm shocked. It troubles me that this "incident" is getting 2 and 3 times the play among PSU fans than the bowl game itself.

Nice call, dipshit.
As much as I homer for the Big XII, it gives me great pleasure to see a shit team with dumbass fans from a trashy institution get rolled.
Eat shit, Aggies.

When did trix steal Whitey's password? Coming in after the fact talking shit when you didn't call your shot beforehand? Typical KC Fucktard. Laughing over here too at all the stupid in your Big XII homer line above. You occasionally make a decent point...and then you come in with fistfuls of shit takes like above.
PSU,
Good game...I guess. Seems Fran wasn't making all those stupid ass play calls all year long after all. 4th and 1 with a 280 lb. RB and you run the triple option? Here's hoping Sherman comes in and cleans house. Give Darnell 1 more year but can the offensive coaches.
Ready for my sig.
