This begs the question

Would you (withstanding LSU and Florida) be happy with your team if they had accomplished what the Buckeyes have done in last two years?
- Two outright Conference Titles
- Combined Record 23-3
- Two shots at the MNC
- Two wins over your main rival
Outside of the "OSU licks the SEC's ballsack" environment, would you all be content if this was your team's output?

The Fox crew went over what Tressel has done in his years at OSU...he's got a great resume and I'd be very happy if that's how well the Wolverines did over that stretch of time. To have 3 shots at the national title in 8 years as coach...nothing to sneeze at. I don't think there'd be many programs that wouldn't trade for the success the Buckeyes have had of late.

No brainer. It is DAMN hard to make it to the BCS championship game. You have to win all or almost all of your games. You have to be perennially ranked high in the preseason. You have to be in a good conference. You have to have the voter's votes. You have to hope some other team did not replicate your season otherwise you may be on the outside looking in.
All that being said, how many teams have won championship hand over fist, year after year? None. Be happy with 1 championship every 10 years or so and be in the running the other years. Prior to your last championship, when was the previous? 1950's right? Be damn proud of your success over the past 10 years. And fuck the haytas.

Anyone who says different is lying (or a USC or LSU fan). 99% of the fan bases out there would love those results.

All right jerk-off. Enjoy your one year of success and occasional stops to the CFB forum. We all know it probably isn't going to last.
I wasn't looking for sympathy, more just trying to look on the bright side. I think a lot of OSU fans are pretty down today when they look at the last two bowl games OSU has played in along with some of the success (and failures) our BB team has had.
We had a lot of shots at glory but couldn't pull it off. I am pretty disappointed and asked this question to see if others thought that maybe OSU fans should be a little more content with their situation.

Everyone else can eat a dick.
Near as I can tell, there's exactly four programs that wouldn't want to hire Jim Tressell over their current head coach-and one of them alread has him as a head coach.
Truly, who would tOSU rather have as coach? Carroll isn't going anywhere, and if Miles were interested in coaching in the Big Ten he already would be. Heck, Miles hasn't had Tressell's success yet. Stoops isn't leaving Norman.
So there you are. Who's going to do a better job than Tressell has? Belotti? Tedford?
I guess what you can say is that when someone is good enough to take you to the dance, it's kind of shitty to complain that they stepped on your foot.
No, I agree and I am not complaining. I am just saying that I think Buckeye nation (those on this board and those in the general community) is pretty down right now. And I don't think they have a real reason to be down. The circumstances might make that a little hard but I think we should be pretty happy.

Was thinking the exact same thing after last night. Sure, both deserve a little criticism after their recent bowl game performances. But like someone in here said, if you're an OU or tOSU fan, who else would you want coaching your team?

A
little criticism? That's like saying the captain of the Titanic ran into a
little iceberg.

Or like saying Mizzou better thank their lucky start some assistant got Pinkel to stop jack-assing himself to death with stupid play calls and that CDaniel is coming back next year.
But really, you would be "really" unhappy with OU type success. I mean didn't they beat your ass twice this season? And what BCS game did you play in this year?

I've really shied away from joining the OU-in-bowls banter of late, including the "Stoops' food in a bowl" jokes.

Until proven otherwise, Bob Stoops is Gary Pinkel's daddy.
As for the BCS game snub, most everyone not named Dins knows and readily admits they got hosed on that deal. I can promise you that they'd have put up more of a fight against LSU than the Suckeyes did.
But that's ok. It worked out well, and they'll only be that much hungrier next year.

Huh?
I know Mizzou fan is new to this, but...
BCS Bowls are for teams that win their conference. Tell me you knew?
Sure, some non-conference winners get a berth too, which is all fine and dandy. But the rule of thumb is "If you didn't win your conference, keep your fucking mouth shut about BCS 'snubs'."

How did they get snubbed?
Two Big XII teams made it. They took the conference champ and the team with the best record.

Boy, it must be hard for you to make
promises about events that happen in Fantasyland. You had your one great, magnificent season. I'll be sure to check back with you in another ten years when your team makes another run at the Cotton Bowl. Good luck with that.

wags is the guy who reads the paper for all of his info.
i knew an hour after Hoch committed, and minutes after Kemp committed, he gets his info when KC Star tells him.
If wags would follow as closely as he lets on, he would know tOSU and Mizzou played recently as the Corby Jones days, and MU got beat by over 30 each time i believe! While several of the tOSU fans have ran smack at me about the Katzenmoyer hit(wags, just said,"Who?"), i clearly stated that Corby will always have Bode over Katz. Katz is a highschool football coach i hear, where Corby is soon the be a partner(if not already) with a big KC law firm. Hey, need something to come back with.

to the original post. it ain't gonna get any better, play for it and lose two years in a row. it hurts. sin, OU fan.
of course, you turned Les Miles loose on the world. OU has a part to play in all this in two ways, and it doesn't feel good.
get over the haters, OU has won 4 NC's in my lifetime. played for maybe 8-9...that's just how it is. if you are playing someone for *it*, they're probably pretty good too.

Not at all. It's quite easy, actually. I see and hear people do it all the time.
Speaking of which, had Mizzou not been Stoops'ed
again, they would have faced tOSU in the MNC rather than LSU, and would've beat those sorry ass Big 10 patsies by 30.
See? It's so easy, I just did it again.
Seriously, nice season Buckeye fan. I was torn on who to root for in that game, being as how Mizzou had beaten both teams that had handed each participant a loss. I suppose I was pulling for OSU a bit more, since Illinois had put up a much greater fight. That game wound up 40-34, but people seem to overlook the fact that Mizzou was up 37-13 at one point.
More than anything though, I was just hoping for a good game that would keep me interested past halftime. Sadly enough, that didn't happen.

Note to adel: Props on your connections and insiders perspective, but that reflects badly on me in what way, exactly? At least I can type a complete sentence and string a few together to form a paragraph without looking like a ritalin addicted retard.
And yes, I remember quite well the beatdowns OSU laid on the Tiggers under Coach Smith. I also remember the 5th down and kicked ball games, 'cause I watched the motherfuckers when they happened.
Regardless, quit trying to act as if you've got some monopoly on being a Mizzoufan, and I'll quit ridiculing your horridly inept posting style. Fair enough?
