Choi wire 2 wire at Sony

Dude has to be mentioned in the dubious category "Best player to never win a major" right?

Right now, I think that list goes like this:

Garcia - young, but has been around long enough to garner this title
Scott - young too, so maybe he is not quite deserving yet
DiMarco - too many final day let downs.
Choi - old enough and has enough wins now to carry this tag
Rose - he'll get one this year
Appleby - definitely too talented and too many chances and still has yet to bag one

Anyone else you can think of?

For the best player in college golf history, he sure has been less than impressive as a pro. Consistant, but just doesn't seem to have that "extra gear" that the greats do.

Hell, even I can nut up and play a little better when my buddies start threatening to break 100 by more than me.

No way Thurston and Lovey's kid was a better collegiate player than ol' FIGJAM.

You'll have to explain FIGJAM to me, but I'll assume that's Eldy.

Since Tiger turned pro, both Charlie and Luke Donald have bested his NCAA scoring average... but Tiger left the NCAA right in the midst of the titanium revolution, so there is that.

And Tiger pretty much stomped face in the US Am while he was NCAA.

Phil's highlights include being a 4 time NCAA All American, 3 NCAA Individual Titles, 3 Haskins awards, a US Am title and a PGA Tour victory. Of course Eldrick might well have bested Phil, but he didn't stay in school.

Fuckin'A...

As some of you may remember, I've cited my superlative humilty as being one of the contributing factors in my overall greatness...

But that was just a schtick with the sole intent being to illicit some chuckles on an anonymous messageboard.

This guy is serious.

BTW: I've just got to say that Choi may just be the NICEST player to have not won a major. Here's picture I snapped of Choi back in 2003 during a practice round for the PGA Championship at Oak Hill.

Image

I followed his group for 5 holes during that practice round and K.J. spent a solid 5 minutes between each hole doing nothing but signing hats, flags and programs for kids. Every other player I saw would sign one or two items along the way, usually while not even breaking stride to do so. K.J. would actually stop and sign as many items as he could until his caddy told him he HAD to get moving again. Though he didn't play well that week, he's been a favorite of both myself and my father in-law since that day and there is nobody on tour I would rather see win a major.
