Rehires DeWayne Walker to run the D, dumps that disaster of an OL coach (Connelly) and brings in the guy from Wisconsin (Palcic), brings in Chow; not a bad beginning.....

i tend to agree. it's a pretty impressive start. some of my CU buds were chuckling about Rick going after Chow.....but, he got him. Who knows what Chow's motivation is.....because it's a pay cut from his Titans package.

I wasn't big on the Skippy-hiring. But keeping Walker was smart. I wondered if he'd go for Chow, he did he and he landed the uber-qb-coach/OC. Skippy is building the kind of staff that will make an OK coach look like a golden-boy. Getting the right guys and enabling them to do their work is half of being a HC.
If Rick can keep these guys around UCLA is looking solid.

The Titans package is guaranteed. What he makes at UCLA will be subtracted from the Titan earnings...but I'm sure they will suppliment his income creatively...

I have a pretty good idea what his motivation would be. He wants to tell Petey to fuck off and stick UCLA's dick up USC's ass for the way things ended. My guess is the first thing these two do is call Matt Barkley and start recruiting the hell out of him. If they could take that kid away from USC, it would be a huge shot across the bow.

Hey Petey may not be there long. If this Bu$h gate thing blows up in his face coupled with the fact that he's got Chow and Walker across town kids may start to head over to Westwood and if that happens Petey's gone, then where will condom U be?

What an incredibly appropriate thread name.
With UCLA, Weasel is currently 0-0 against conference opponents. I'd say that's an excellent start for him.

Neuheisal is just going after everything USC to try to get the bRuins going. Funny that Chow would take the OC job there after they TD'd him as the head coach and his kids are going to USC. I understand that Fucla is going after Mark Carrier as the DBs coach now too. Norton already turned the bRuins down. Neuheisal is now rumored to be pulling a CUM move and is offering barkleys cousin and best friend a scholarship in hopes that he can lure barkley away from the Trojans... I better get my check book out so I can help Pete with his recruiting

I looked up "meltdown" in the dictionary and found your take sitting there.
Enjoy your tarnished glory....the end is near for SuC.

Of course -- taking a proven loser over a proven winner makes perfect sense... if you're UCLA.

Yes Killian Bullough is staying along with his chilled bottle of JD and fridge full of cold ones for me.
Neuheisal is just going after everything USC to try to get the bRuins going. Funny that Chow would take the OC job there after they TD'd him as the head coach and his kids are going to USC.
So what? Chow was offered the OC job and he took it. He's been turned down for a few head coaching jobs in the past so what's the big deal? Petey ran him off because his ego couldn't handle the fact that Chow got credit for that offense.
I understand that Fucla is going after Mark Carrier as the DBs coach now too.
I'm not sure you understand anything.
Norton already turned the bRuins down. Neuheisal is now rumored to be pulling a CUM move and is offering barkleys cousin and best friend a scholarship in hopes that he can lure barkley away from the Trojans...
Since when is Barkley a Trojan? Ask yourself one question: Who would you want to play for? Norm Chow or Steve Sarkissian? If you're Barkley that's a no brainer.
I better get my check book out so I can help Pete with his recruiting
I' sure you're not the only one.

Still stuck on...
zero, right?
USC just ran hoops smack on UCLA. I guess we can shut off the internet now.

A football game.
Sorry, that was a horrid reset of an equally horrid local sports show that absolutely no one else here will get. I still needed to get it off my chest though, since a certain local sports "personality" is really close to a through-the-TV-tube-beatdown.

Would it temper your enthusiasm if you knew that I FOUGHT for you to keep your lead and capture the BBOTY award? The critically acclaimed performances in this thread I'm afraid will not sway the judges since we are already into 2008. Take solace in knowing you are on your way to the top of the polls....and we will argue your merits vs. the SEC bias the permiates on this board....
Keep posting, maestro....

Tell me that's not Hank Bullough you're talking about. If it is, then UCLA probably should shitcan his ass yesterday. Hank Bullough was, without question, the absolute
WORST coach I have ever had the misfortune to see in action. And remember, I was at ND for the Faust years, and more recently, saw my team go through Davie and Willingham.
As for Skippy, if his history is any indication, he'll do significantly better at UCLA than Dorrell did. But I don't think Seer will like the shape his program is in 5-10 years down the road.

Terry, I think Hank is the father. Coached with the Colts, and other teams in the NFL. Played at Michigan State. If it is, and he wasn't a good coach then his son is much better. Everything I've heard from talking to kids, and parents is nothing but positive. Everything I've read about him as a coach is great.....and his fridge is always full.....well until I get down there.

Lax, I looked it up, and you're right, it's Chuck Bullough on the UCLA staff. Hank is his father.
For a read on Hank, check this out:

Simply amazing. And fwiw, I'm no Fred Smerlas honk, either. He used to appear on a local radio sports talk show fairly frequently, and he was so obnoxious that I stopped listening. Once you get past: (a) Hank Bullough was a terrible football coach; (b) Kay Stephenson was a terrible football coach; and (c) Osama bin Laden is a terrible human being; I don't think you could find a single topic in the world on which Smerlas and I would agree.

Wow.....I've met Hank and he seems like a nice guy. We talked a little bit about coaching and his career. Smerlas didn't give any reasons why he didn't like him. And FWIW you love some guys and you hate some. Some guys have ways to motivate players and some guys have different ways. Obviously I didn't play for the guy and I only know his son but the kids out here that are going to UCLA that I've spoken to along with their parents said the reason they committed to the Bruins is Chuck. He's going to be their position coach and they love him. Good article though.....I remember Smerlas and all those guys.

Hell i'm hoping Texas does that in 2k8.
BTW has anyone come up with an over/under of how long it will take for Skippy to screw up UCLA and get them in trouble with the NCAA and then skip out of town to another school?
