And the hits just keep coming.

But since my daughter plans on joining the Peace Corps for two years after she graduates from college, I'll take it under advisement.

I pity the poor dumbfuck who tries to take advantage of my daughter. She's quite capable of defending herself.

Rack the brothers who gang raped the little gherkin when he got thrown in the slam for burning crosses.

Of course he probably enjoyed it...

If she gets attacked by a pygmy, maybe so.

But this isn't some college campus in America we're talking about here. People in Africa and other countries roll a bit different than a drunk frat boy with no weapons... Call it a hunch, but I'm guessing that when three thugs roll up on her armed with machetes and baseball bats, a Hi-YAH to the solar plexus of one of them isn't going to amount to much.

You don't know my daughter. She'd take those machete's and baseball bats from them and shove 'em up their asses, she would.

Well, probably not. But I also know she's smart enough to not allow herself to be put in any situation where that might be a concern.

I'm thinking a nice mission trip in some friendly South American country might be preferable to Africa.

Or not. :?

Yeah, the savages in brazil are much friendlier than the african ones.

Do your little girl a favor and tell her to skip the do gooder bullshit and just get a job. There are plenty of folks that could use help in this country where we still have some semblance of law and order. In some places anyway.

She must not have been in South Africa.

HEY!! AT LEAST SHE GETS ON A FUCKING PLANE NOW AND THEN!!!

Screw all those airline safety rules -- just have Sam walk through the cockpit and push the switches.

You push buttons.

Switches generally require flipping, rotating, or some other more complicated procedure.

Humorous airplane comments aside -- have you been in a car made since, say, 1996?

Care to point out for me which car models don't use rocker-switches almost exclusively?

TIA

Even my 1989 Chev, the very few switches it has, are all rockers.

Matter of fact, I can't think of any model from any era that doesn't use rockers for the windows.

Rocker switches are actuated by pushing them... tell me you knew?

While rockers require a motion that might be considered a "push", you are technically flipping the switch when you operate it.

The windows in my 2007 have a push-pull setup for window operation.

Are the fan control or the ventilation control operated by rockers?

Uhm... no.

You're pushing two copper contacts together.

"Flipping" a switch is placing it in a stationary position. They haven't used switches like that in automotive applications in decades. Switches that require being placed in a stationary position have generally been replaced with push buttons that lock in place... push-buttons require pushing, oddly enough.

Gee, another thread where people want to tell me about automotive electrics. Of all the topics you can try to step to me on, trust me -- this is the last place you want to go. I can assure you, beyond all doubt, I know more about this subject than every other poster here put together.
The windows in my 2007 have a push-pull setup for window operation.

So, you're making a case that you don't "push" switches, by describing swithes that you push... brilliant.

You obviously aren't very up-to-date about Whitey's daughter or you'd know why.

And here I thought there would be some difference between Ppanes and cars.

So which switches do you push to start up this auto?

You can't see them in that picture. The actual start switches however, are on the overhead panel and, yeah, you PUSH them

Idiot

See the 2 square, red buttons in the middle of the pic?

U&L from them are four black buttons, labeled "Start". Those are the start switches. You push them one at a time. When the N1 gauge for that engine reaches 15%, turn on the fuel flow and the engine finishes starting itself. Pretty simple.

Rack Mace, btw

Isn't there supposed to be a guy outside the plane yelling "contact!!" or something?

Why are you refering to those switches as 'buttons'? I mean, just because they look like buttons, act like buttons...

Clavinsdale says they are switches. So they can't be buttons.

Buttons and switches won't do shit until you say "Atomic Batteries To Power, Turbines To Speed"

Of course they can, and Dinsdale didn't say any such thingie; that was Sam and as any fool can plainly see, he's wrong
