They were surprised huh? Anyone with three braincells to rub together already knew this to be true.

Healthy folks live long. Long life=big $$$$ in healthcare. Obese three pack a day fukkks have massive heart attacks in their mid fifties. No rest home, no years of meds, no SS payouts.

Wonder what excuse our nanny state will do next to appease the anti smoke nazis and food police

I wonder what Jimmy Meds has to say about this?

Yeah, but they keep food prices high due to increased demand. Especially your two staples...twinkies and beer.

Word.

After two ankle surgeries, an osteochondroma removal and scope of my right knee, combined with my crazy pills that cost the insurance company more than $1000/month, I'd say I've gotten my money's worth from my health insurance. Bode!...or not so much.

Actually, I stretched out the tendons playing BBall one-on-one with a buddy of mine. I gave him a juke to the left, made a bitchin crossover to the right and stepped toe-down right on his foot, stretching out the tendons on my ankle. I knew it wasn't a regular sprain, as it didn't really hurt, the tendons just kind of tingled. After that, I proceded to sprain it another 50 or so times through my late twenties. The kicker was when I was moving in with the OL. We were loading a couch into a moving van and my ankle rolled off the edge of the driveway and made a loud cracking noise. Ouch some? Thought I had broken the fucker.

After that I had tarsal tunnel syndrom, where the nerve to my foot would get pinched because of scar tissue and radiate pain up my entire leg any time I would stand for more than five minutes. That kinda sucked. I put up with it (while popping motrin and darvocets like they were Tictacs) for about two years. I finally had enough and went in to an orthopedist who said I needed an ankle stabilization surgery on the left side and a nerve release surgery on the right side. Greeeeeeeat...

For the ankle stabilization surgery, they snip the stretched out tendon, drill a hole in your (I think) Tibia, pull it through and plug the hole with a metal slug. Seems like he did a good job, as I haven't sprained it since and it's been about five years now. Took about six months before I could walk pain free though.

The nerve release was less of a big deal, although if the doctor fucked up, I would be left with no feeling in my foot. He said prior to the surgery that about the best I could hope for was about 70% improvement in the pain and that's pretty much what happened. I still have to shift my feet around if I stand for long periods of time and try to avoid places with concrete floors at places like Home Depot, but all in all I can't complain too much. I'm sure it'll hurt like a bitch when I get to be old and crusty though.

When thinking of you making a "bitchin crossover" I kept picturing you as this guy....

As long as you can live long enough to file a claim, sure.

Nice red "X".

BTW, I was playing a guy who was about twice as fast as I was, which is why even though he fell for my outstanding head fake, he was still quick enough to get back into position, which is why his foot was there for me to step on.

RACK the pic.

The guy I was playing against was a 6'1" Chinese friend of mine. Musta been some Yao Ming in the wood pile or something.

Anywho, he used to spend the summers at his Grandparents' place in Hong Kong and said there were 8' hoops down near the ocean. Of course all of the other guys he'd be playing against were 5'1", 5'2", etc, so he said he pretty much felt like Air Jordan, driving the lane and tomahawk dunking on their asses.

Just don't let her on top. Oiling up won't save you from suffocating.

Yeah, I play roundball tonight for the first time since I tore my meniscus a year ago. Unwar being rusty tonight. If anything, I will probably just stay in the low post and go Laimbeer (facemask excluded) on a few dudes and try for put backs. If I take a shot past 10 feet tonight, its only because I'm stupid.

I'm sure the whole board would donate to a fund to buy you a couple cartons of cigarettes and 2 or 3 pizzas a week

I used to play on 8' hoops with my cousins in the hay lofts of my grandfather's farm. We called it "barnball" and played it like the full contact sport it was meant to be. You could watch an hour's worth of action and not see a single jump shot.

Years ago, we played on 8' goals at a local school playground where we ran full court. Most of the brothas were all about showboatin' and throwing down a stylistic stuff after dribbling around the permimeter for 2 minutes. Absolutely no fundamentals involved, so I stopped playing there.
