Rent in the city is too high so I guess they are heading to Denver. I need to go buy a bunch of their gin before they go.

Yes, thank God....and they still only charge $2 for bottles of beer. I love that place.

trudat, but when you live in aa and ride a bike so everyone thinks you're green [b/c the car's hidden away on some side street] you pick leopold's over rick's or mitch's or whatever meat name is attached to a frat bar. plus, sticks looked like it was getting run over by eastern's frat scene around the time i packed up and left. the only thing worse than michigan greeks is eastern wannabe-greeks.

M Club - Sticks was always my least favorite of the Depot Town pubs. I actually made more visits to the Tiki Bar atop the roof than inside Sticks. Sidetrack is still the best all-around bar in terms of drinks, food, and atmosphere. It has its fair share of annoying pseudo-intellects, but you don't have to talk over loud, obnoxious music.

Yeah, Au
brey's is pretty damn good, too. And they opened another one up within 5 minutes from where I live.

i was always partial to sidetracks, most especially after the frat scene migrated to sticks from theo's. those happy hour double pints for $2.50 then 2.75 now probably 3.50 were lekker, especially during spring when oberon would come out. i never noticed that sidetracks was a pseudo-intellectual scene, just that ppl mostly kept to themselves at their tables, which is all you can ask for when out for a beer. if it was like that and i missed it, at least i never saw white baseball hats in there.
i liked the tiki bar a lot. it was proudly kitsch. i remember they brought out some shite 19' tv for game 1 of the pistons/lakers series and everyone was huddled over it even though there were big screens just inside sticks. plus, it has the only nice view of a parking lot i've ever seen.

Oh, I guess you haven't come acrossed the trying-way-too-hard-to-look-and-sound-interesting crowd there. No biggie. You're right in that the alternative Sticks crowd is far less appealing. And downright offensive.

i generally went up there with people i already knew, so i wasn't into scoping the clientele [aside from the obvious scan for attractive ladies]. i'm sure if i did i would've obviously found people much smarter and dressed better than me, and my only recourse would've been to cross the street to sticks and start a fight.

Oh, there would've been eager and willing participants. My last experience at Sticks ended with a bunch of pubic-chinned doucheslices demanding that the waitress turn it from college football to UFC on the Spike network. That was ENOUGH.
