Thank God???

I was watching the footage of the tornado outbreak's aftermath and I couldn't help by be struck by how many times people who had just had their houses and all of their possessions blown off the face of the earth were thanking God for sparing their lives.
Seems to me that if God is truly A) All Powerful and B) Gives a shit about your stinkin trailer park, that he would not have sent the tornado in the first place. But I'm sure I'll get a nice plate of Poptart and Nachos seasoned with a whole bunch of scripture explaining why their illogic is not as illogical as it seems.

God works in mysterious ways. The fact that your seed was viable would be proof of that.

I Thessalonians 5:18: In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
This is the Scripture you want me to post, Bri.
Well, Mr Sunday afternoon Christian Football Hero is always giving his thanks to God whenever he rushes for 185 yds and 3 TDs.
But seldom (if ever -- probably never, that I can ever recall) do I hear a peep about God, Jesus or thankfulness from Mr Sunday afternoon Christian Football Hero when he gets stuffed all day long and his team takes it deep up the @ss.
So I'm just glad to know that somebody is following Scripture and thanking God -- even if it is just the white trashers.

Maybe an a) All Powerful God b) allowed what happened because his plans are not our plans or maybe c) it all happened so that a bitter steeler fan could post something on a message board...
Thank God for that.....

Rack it.
The Christian Football Hero example reminds me when I was a kid, of the cookie-cutter Catholic soccer moms and dads being all quiet and "polite," errr, socially fake during and after Mass, before getting in their cars and blaring the horn at other drivers to get out of a congested parking lot.
Probably not the same thing, but for some reason pop's example reminded me of it.

I guess it strikes me as yet another example of people acting like sheep. Or, at the very least, like Omega pledges in Animal House.
Thank you God! May I have another?

Bri, do you know about Joseph in the Old Testament?
Was conspired against by his brothers, sold by them into slavery in Egypt, was framed by his 'keeper's' wife, and put in prison.
Pretty damn horrible.
But Joseph's attitude?
One of prayer, fully confident that God was with him, and that this was simply the 'field' where God had placed him to fulfill his Covenant.
Long story short, God demonstrated that he WAS with Joseph, Joseph became Prime Minister of Egypt, and all things did take place for the fulfillment of God's Covenant.
There is NOTHING that is a problem for a child of God, because God Himself has taken responsiblity for the life of a believer in Him.
And if there is a 'problem' that presents itself, there is most DEFINITELY an answer.
A person who is outside of God's Covenant, on the other hand, has every reason to be anguished when 'problems' arise.
Because they are within the curse of Genesis 3:16-20.
There IS no answer for them.
They are destined for a final failure, and an eternal one at that.
So for the believer who's house and life possessions have been shredded by a tornado ....
Give thanks to God, for within that situation is God's tremendous blessing for you.
Absolutely so.
