Syracuse blows lead at home against PITT

Boeheim gets a T to close out his own team in the final seconds. but, announcers are STILL arguing (as they have been all game) that Cuse belongs in the tournament.....BUT NOW it's because they played such a great game and lost. ?

it's that venerable time of year in the Spring sports media...."let's get Syracuse and Saint Boeheim into the tournament!".

A&M may not get in either. I'm sure you are watching this abortion of an "effort" A&M is putting forth. Too bad we can't play 35 games/year in Reed. We're fucking pathetic on the road.

yeah, you guys looked in serious disarray. and since Turgeon isn't Billy Clyde.....he's done the worst thing possible: raise and then squash expectations. but, take heart, we make it tough for opposing teams to win in ugly, poorly played games. that's our comfort zone. what belies explanation is how OU's hobbled front court outplayed Jones and co....reputedly the best in the league.

Cuse rpi now 62 and have lost 3 in a row (and 5 of 6) and are 7-9 in conference. so, i mean, history says that's right on the bubble. :meds:

i'm not sure anyone outside of Tejas,Kansas really deserve to be in the tourney,

seriously, OU,Baylor,KST, aTm need to win out or lose in title game to get in! they are all average to mediocre teams, the big 12, from 3rd to last is bad! . big12 is 7th in RPI. yikes!

i agree the conference is pretty weak this year. you would read in the OOC that the XII was strong this year...etc. but what you really have are a lot of mediocre teams in the 35-60 rpi range. I think UT and KU will be 2-4 seeds. and 2 of the 4 (OU, Baylor, KSU, ATM) will get in--maybe a third with the Beasley factor) get in. ATM is in trouble and play at Baylor and KU which on the face of it is bad in terms of conference record/standings....but, if they need to right the ship and in a way that people take notice. Beating KU at Reed might just do that. Baylor needs to finish ahead of OU since OU has the tiebreak.

i see the OU, KSU, Baylor, ATM group as 9 or 10 type seeds.

fuck that noise. :P i'm pretty sure i've lost every 3 pointer involving BC. but that's hardly an elite category, i've been atrocious this year with the pick'm 3 ball.

way below 50%.

win at Baylor seems to have earned you in terms of the prognosticators. both Jerry Palm (inverted the genre) and (moron copycat) Joe Lunardi have ATM in.....as of now.

I hope. I know we can catch fire in a bottle with this team but it would need to be a miracle run to go all the way. I dont see that happening. My highest hopes are to win at least 2 games, get to the 16 and continue building our recruiting resume. The talent in Texas alone can get A&M to a top team year in and year out. We just usually don't get the top talent. We are starting to, but it needs to continue to snowball.

if you get in, it's all gravy for ATM. the sweet 16 would be like blow job from a super model while you are drinking beer and eating carnitas with killer green tomatillo sauce for the Ags.

say what you want, but the NCAA is the bottom line and you guys need anything you can to get over the Billy Clyde is God and gone and "Acie Law made every shot he took and the ags never lost once" thing to make hoops work at ATM in the long-term.

Turgeon missing the Dance only makes that worse. Make the Dance, everyone is less pot banging/red ass. Turgeon buys himself some time.

and bad for the Ags is you just slipped behind Syracuse in the rpi. i'll say it again, whatever justification is used to get the Cuse in will work better for some other teams who are left out. SOS, rpi, the Big East...just watch.

i think if we get at least one win in the conference tourney we may get in. One and done and we are in the NIT. in the history of the Big XII conference tourney, A&M has exactly 1 win. History is just that...but it does not bode well for us.

And yes, Acie Law IV WAS this team the last 4 years, and he is dearly missed. A&M has fallen this season due to our inability to create off the dribble and find the big men on double teams. Carter can't get an uncontested shot off without having to make it a fade away after running back and forth on the baseline for 30 seconds. Sloan and Kirk are turning the ball over way too much. Sloan can't pass for shit. He's a 2 guard playing the 1. When Law went into the lane, he was like a magnet and drew everybody else to him because if you didn't, he was going to lay it up. That's how he made everyone better.

If A&M can score a good point guard for next year, watch out. We definitely need more consistency from the three line, but that will come with someone who can draw double and triple teams on penetration. If we're stuck with Sloan at the point next year, unless he has drastic ball handling improvements in the off-season, we're going to be in the same position. I wish Jordan would grow a pair. That kid needs to dominate the paint. Being able to jump out of the gym does you no good when you shuffle your feet 3-4 times a game and pass out as the slightest hint of a double team.

In any case, we'll see how we do in the tourney. We really won't be losing that much. Jo-Jones is a shell of his former self. Losing Kirk will be our biggest problem as he can shut down a quality 1, 2 or even small 3.
