You can't delete these while they're in your camera, or have you tried putting the card in your computer?

Remove the card from your camera, put it in your computer's card reader and when the icon appears as a drive letter in My Computer, right-click and select FORMAT. Format the card as FAT, not FAT32.
Also, have a good look at the card. It may have a tiny LOCK/UNLOCK switch on it.
