I was just curious how many pools everyone plans on entering, how much total money they'll be spending on tourney pools and how many brackets you enter?

Personally, I've already signed up for 5 pools each being $10 entries and I just checked my email and have 7-8 other ones that I'll probably enter and the range is $5-$50 in those ones. Normally I enter only 1-2 because it becomes too much of a pain in the ass to keep up with so many different pools, but this year I'm in the gambling mood so what the heck!! I think the total amount I'll invest is $175-$200 but if I run well I could profit well over $1,500. So that's basically 8.5:1 on my money. Not too bad. Of course, I'll be mathematically eliminated in all of them by the Sweet 16......!

I ALWAYS stick to entering 1 bracket and I enter the same bracket for each pool I'm in. Drives me insane to see people entering multiple brackets. It waters it down and ruins the fun. For the pool I'm running I require only 1 bracket per person.

Last year I won both pools I entered and profited about $300 or so. It was the first time I have ever won an NCAA Tournament pool. I always do shitty in these. Probably will do shitty again this year. I'm usually finishing middle of the pack or in the bottom half. But last year I had an incredible run. Every game was going my way. I got 14-16 of the Sweet 16 teams, 7-8 of the Elite 8, and 3-4 of the Final 4 teams in and correctly predicted a Florida win over OSU. Even more amazing was my 138 point tie breaker which was 1 frickin' point off of the 139 points scored in the championship game (not that I even needed the tie breaker). That's how lucky I was running. I think last year I could have just thrown darts to pick winners and won it all! I was due though. That's redemption for the 15 years or so of having every fucking game go against me in the NCAA Tournament. Basically, before last year, if I picked a team to win after the 2nd round and you had that same pick you were screwed! I'd get 1-2 Final 4 teams every year and 3-4 Elite 8 teams and that's about it.

I'm hoping my luck continues this year. Probably not just because I ran so well last year. But you never know. All I know is it really felt nice to actually beat my female friends that don't know a damn thing about basketball for a change! Kinda got tired of hearing the "ha ha I don't even watch basketball and I still kicked your ass""!

We just play for chump change. It's only $12 million this year, which hardly counts as "gambling."

The amount of $$ I wager in pools positivey pales in comparison to the amount I have in play for any given game/round!

I like to do well in pools for the sport of it....rarely do any good at all in them. However, if I had a dollar for every game I was actively rooting against my pool, well.......I'd have a few more dollars to my name!

A buddy of mine at work came up with a "creative" fundraiser for his kids baseball team that he coaches. $10 to enter of which $5 goes to the prize fund and the rest towards the team.

Me: ugh... no thanks bro, I'm already in several others. Don't you, like, have some trash bags or candy to sell me instead?

This coming from the obnoxious Dad who sold shit for years when my daughter's youth teams were doing fundraisers. He probably thinks I'm an asshole, but shit mang, don't use a gambling tool to fund your teams indoor batting practices.

Nice! I hear ya man, there's something wrong with using gambling to fundraise for your children. I'm in one pool where the buy-in is $10 and the guy running it is using part of the proceeds towards money for his summer softball league team. I have less of a problem with that because he's not using gambling to fundraise for kids.

Maybe I should run a pool where a portion (and by "portion" I mean a huge chunk) go towards my poker bankroll! Now that would be creative!

That all the money paid in is not paid out makes it a crime in Louisiana. Or so I was told.

Our local church does "half pot" drawings all the time where people pay for a raffle and half the money goes to the winners and half goes to the church.

Our school district has a 50/50 raffle at every football and basketball home game. Half the money goes to the school district and half to the winner of the drawing.
