Cafferty: Gore-led ticket good compromise for Democrats?
Posted: 02:19 PM ET

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:

A Florida congressman is suggesting that a brokered convention for the Democrats could lead to some pretty unexpected results. In other words, forget about Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.

Representative Tim Mahoney says he wouldn't be surprised if someone different is at the top of the ticket. He says a compromise candidate could be someone like Al Gore.

In a newspaper interview, Mahoney said if the convention is deadlocked and either Clinton or Obama suggested a Gore-Obama or Gore-Clinton ticket, the party would accept it.

Mahoney is one of the almost 800 superdelegates who would get to cast a vote at the convention. He hasn't endorsed either Clinton or Obama yet, but has been wooed by both.
Watching the Democratic convention is going to be like watching a monkey fuck a football.

I dunno -- the US economy isn't exactly healthy right now. And in Algore, we have a man who actually has people convinced that the air you exhale is classified as a "pollutant," and is making big-bucks off it.

Financial genius, at any rate.

Good point. Tobacco, oil, and carbon dioxide. His "smack/spam" style of talking out of both sides of his mouth might just be a great boon to our economy.

FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty
Cool, let's sling some mud. Choose from the following:

a) Bush lied, people died
b) Bush is the anti-Christ
c) Bush is a child molester
d) Bush should be impeached
e) All of the above

Seriously, when Bush leaves office ol' Jack is going to be left without any material and looking for a new job. He can't go two sentences w/o placing all the evils of the world squarely and solely at W's feet.

No, it wouldn't. The creation of a market for hot air (literally) benefits nobody other than seller. Value is not being exchanged for value by any measure.

The sole purpose of a carbon market is to drive up the cost of energy which is economic suicide.
Far too short sighted mvscal. See Al Gore, like he single-handedly invented the internet (another economic boon) will bring home the bacon and redistribute it to us all.

Tobacco - got behind the politics of the anti-tobacco lobby here, while at the same time pushed and supported - and got money - from tobacco sales in foreign countries.

Oil - Gets paid for oil AND gets paid for fighting against the pollutants oil produces.

Economic genius with all the bases covered.

Thank God he's a Democrat and will voluntarily turn over 65% of his earnings to us lowly folks so we can - not drive, not breathe outside, not smoke, and sit at home using the internet buying groceries with our allowances breathing into special Carbon Dioxide collection bottles - yep - you guessed it invented by Al Gore.

He's our new cash crop.

Nobody snatches defeat from the jaws of victory quite like the Democratic Party. Even when they're running against a candidate who can't use that saying correctly ('sup, W).

And could everyone ever associated with the Clinton Administration please just go away now? Those folks will be the (latest) ruination of the Democratic Party. I'm even willing to make a compromise: Hillary can keep her Senate seat (in my home state, no less) if the rest of them leave.

She won't go away. She has a stronger sense of entitlement to the presidency than Al Gore had/has.

I read some recent polling where it suggested 22% of Dems think Hillary should drop out - I guess you're in that crowd. That wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't for the fact 22% of Dems think Obama should drop out.

Call me crazy, but thanks to this post, I am actually entertaining the idea that if a Dem is to win the White House - Gore would actually be the best one to win compared to Hillary and Obama. All jokes aside.

I don't think Hillary should drop out so much as I think she needs to back the fuck off the Rove style attacks. It was one thing before Texas and Ohio for her to try a last minute desperation heave of the "kitchen sink". It's another thing entirely when she's now certain to trail in every conceivable metric come convention time and she's still continuing her "kitchen sink" strategy. She's lost me and a whole bunch of other Dems for life if she continues down this road.

Worse than Jimmy Carter?

I suppose it's just a matter of opinion, but he was without a doubt the worst, at least in my lifetime.

How else could Reagan get elected in a landslide running against an incumbent? Carter surgically removed the USA's balls and it took Ronnie to grow 'em back.

I don't believe we can accurately make that judgement yet.

I can remember vividly during the Reagan years all the abuse he took from the media and pop culture. Twenty years later, he's an iconic figure of American greatness.

Maybe Bush's legacy won't be so kind, but that remains to be seen.

Opinion polls and the flak I'll invite for it be damned, but I still support the man 100% and believe we elected the right guy for the job. I know you wouldn't have wanted Gore or Kerry in his stead.

As poor a president Chimpy may be, keep in mind that Carter did all his damage in a single term with little or no opposition from the other party. Nothing he did or tried to do failed to turn immediately to shit. Jimmah is in a league of his own.

JFK was pretty much of a ding as president too: Berlin Wall, Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile Crisis, FUBAR CIA assasination schemes... his image isn't nearly as bad as it deserves to be thanks only to Lee Harvey Oswald.

Was there anything worthwhile that JFK accomplished ..... outside the bedroom, that is? Peace corps? pfffftttt.

You might as well add vietnam to that impressive list. LBJ may get top billing for blame on that one, but, it was Jack that got the ball rolling.

What were the odds of him being re-elected prior to catching that bullet?

Nonsense. The country recovered from Carter's presidency within Reagan’s first term. It may take decades to undo Bush’s damage. Interesting chart:

I feel sick at my stomach completly agreeing with mv on anything but the man is nails on this one.

Bush is no freaking conservative he's a traditionalist. Traditionalists have hijacked the word conservative from us true cons which is why I am dismayed with the Republican party in general... unfortunatly for the demos they might have actually been able to garner a vote from me, for the first time, in a presidential election if not for their total ineptitude in selecting a nominee.

I think Dubya gets a lot blame for shit that should fall into the Clinton administration: the Real Estate market, DotCom busts, and the national oil reserve being depleted. Three of the largest concerns currently and all created by Clinton not Bush.

Not Real Estate. Sorry I think you know enough about the industry based on having read your posts that you should understand that, and certainly not the national oil reserve! I'll give you the dotcom busts can be blamed on the free market.

Clinton administration policies on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac fronts inflated home prices and made it possible for underqualified people to purchase homes at adjustable rates that he knew in the long run couldn't be maintained for a quick popularity boost.

Two points...

1. Clinton inherited a recession economy.

2. It took a year or so for the 1993 budget act to kick in.

But hey, don't let facts get in your way of making a complete ass out of yourself.
