The way Americans, er, most Oklahomans see the world

I normally wouldn't post something like this, especially from a mass e-mail from an extended "friend."

Only, on this board, there about 100 different ways this one could go, so I'll start:

"Excellent! You just passed Geography, Aaron and Brianna!"

Sin,

Private schools.

------------

"Excellent! You just passed Geography, Mike and Maria."

Sin,

Public schools.

------------

That's it, in a nutshell! Why these kids HAVE to take geography, is beyond me. Fuck the rest of the world. Let THEM learn about US. We R #1! It says so, on the map!

Sin,

An increasingly scary percentage of the American Public.

Discuss.

Amusing cartography there RF. I chuckled at the area described as "pussies".

Lotsa' American folks aren't amused by this, though. Seems some of our southern neighbors would rather view a map of North America this way:

Sorry, chavo... there was a War. You lost. Get over it.

Absolut vodka apologized for running the ad, of course... which is a damn good thing. I think we're spread just a bit too thin to be invading Sweden anytime soon.

Shouldn't Canada say "Inhabited by stupid people"?

And Mexicans are not given enough credit. They also pick our fruits and vegetables, mow our lawns, and suck our health care system dry.

True.

This may ruin a few stereotypes some folks have, but a Mexican home builder spent $30 million with my company last year and plan to spend another $30 mil this year, providing over 300 decent paying jobs. We've been running 3 shifts 6 days a week to keep up with demand.

Good timing, being as how the domestic home building market has shriveled to practically nothing this past year. We'd essentially be shut down if it weren't for the Mexican and South American market.

So in the "Absolut World" the Mexicans would be sneaking across the border into say Kansas ??

Sorry. I guess "Ignorant stupid people" is more accurate.

If Mexico still had all that land, they would still be poor and would make the west coast as god awful as their country.

The funniest part of this is that a Californian posted it.

Looks like they got about 50 miles of Southern Oregon on that map. Still got about another 300 miles or so to claim Portland.

They clearly only wanted to claim desirable areas of the west.

Exactly.

Even more sad, is the number of Oklahomans, er, Americans, who see the world, according to Wags' map.

Sin,

1959

Actually, a good ole' God-fearin' naggar hayter from Oklahoma would have not been Politically Correct and exclude the "dark continent" from that map. The artist of that graphic most likely has sucked many a black dong in addition to taking it up the pooper many many times. I'm guessing a guy that habitually practices self-aggrandizement on the boards is most likely to have spammed the Volvo corporate offices.

I'd say it's more like 120 miles of Southern Oregon with another 120 miles to Portland (as the crow flies). But who wants to be picky, right?

So Coos Bay is Tijuana, and no I didn't go to Stanford. Bunch of arrogant stuck-up pricks if you ask me.
I went to one of the lesser known extensions of the UC system.

You're right. Salem is about 200 miles north of the border and 40 miles south of Portland. Eyeballing that map, the Abslout border is about halfway from CA to Portland.

So, what's your point (other than you don't know when to STFU)?

Whatever you say, mensa. I guess, as in word definitions, you have your own distance definitions as opposed to the "rest of the world".

I think he may be out there right now driving from Salem to the California border. He'll then post "before and after" pictures of the odometer from his '74 Mustang II (boredom zero) to prove his point.

Actually they are the real Okies. Okies was a word originally coined to describe those who left Oklahoma for California not that lived in Oklahoma itself.

Wahhhhhhh Wahhhhhh, we'll build a new football stadium but not replace a basketball arena that is older than half the population of the city, wahhhhhhh wahhhhhh. We'll build a new baseball stadium for a team that is a perenial cellar dweller but not for the only team that has brought us a title, wahhhhhhh wahhhhhhh. We'll build a spiffy new place for a soccer team to fold its operations from in 5 years but not for a team that has been in the city for generations wahhhhhhhhh wahhhhhhhh.

How does it feel to know that a bunch of "poor" redneck Okies came in and outspent your local citizens and that the "poor" ole city in the dust bowl can ante up the kind of money that Seattle refuses to do so? I'll hang up and take your answer on the air.

The fact that Oklahoma has three of the top ten most integrated communities in America, Lawton (which is number #1 in the country), Oklahoma City, and Ardmore, has no relevance on the subject though does it? Don't let facts get in the way of a stupid argument though.

You do realize that your state is the one parcel of land in the United States that was deemed to be so worthless that white people didn't even bother to steal it from the Indians until all the good land had already been taken?
