Roy and the Jayhawk shirt

The media and fans making a big deal out of Roy wearing the Jayhawk shirt need to chill out. I have no problem at all with it, in fact I think it's very classy. The guy spent more than a decade as the head coach in Lawrence, so it's only natural for the guy to have strong feelings about that program. Even though Kansas just beat UNC, it's not like those 2 schools are big rivals. He's not stabbing UNC in the back by doing this, he's just showing how he feels about KU......and you can't blame him.

If Todd Lickliter put on a Butler shirt and followed the Bulldogs through the NCAA Tournament after Iowa got eliminated, I'd have no problem with it. He spent many years at that school and so I'd expect him to continue supporting their basketball program even though he's the coach at Iowa.

If anyone has a problem with Roy sporting Jayhawk gear, get over it. You're making a big deal out of nothing.

I think you have to get into the tournament before you can get eliminated from it.

I didn’t have a problem with Jayhawk Roy. I believe he recruited a few of those kids to Kansas.

He will get us to the tournament, multiple times. It's just going to take time. He has to clean up the mess that Hoosier Alford left.

The only Jayhawk that Roy had any recruiting connection to was Jeremy Case. The rest were all Bill Self recruits.

I can see both sides of this, to be honest.

Its easy to look at it, from Williams' perspective. He gave 15 years of his life to Kansas and wanted to see them win. No big deal, that he wears some Kansas attire and cheers for them.

On the other hand, Kansas just knocked UNC out of the tournament and then his players get to see him wearing Kansas shirt, smiling, cheering and happy as Kansas wins the national championship, while all his players simply feel dejected about not getting there themselves.

I can certainly see that as a slap in the face (albiet a small one) that might not go over all that well with his players.

I don't see it as anything horrible, nor would I make a big deal about it, but I would say that it seems like it should be an awfully big disconnect between players and coach on this issue.

We don't see what the big fucking deal is. Maybe Roy likes Carolina in Basketball and Kansas in football.

Nice, Frisco, nice.....

That reminds me.....

So a couple of months ago I was eating dinner at the ESPN Club at Disney's Boardwalk in Orlando watching the Iowa-Wisconsin game. But the main game on was Dook-UNC. There was a huge crowd of Tar Heels and Dookies. As I'm looking around I notice the biggest dorks I think I've ever seen......and they all had Dook gear on. The few Dook chicks in attendance were butt ugly as well. We all know when the cameras at Cameron Indoor go into the stands you see nothing but butt ugly coeds. Heck, when I was on their campus last year I don't think I saw one decent looking chick. I did, however, see dudes wearing Khaki's and sweater vests out in the courtyard studying. What dipshits. Who the fuck dresses up to go study? I would just throw on a pair of unwashed slicks and a t-shirt and a hat. If I was feeling unlazy maybe I put on a pair of clean jeans, and once out of 100 I comb my hair and don't wear a hat. But Khaki's and sweater vests or button down shirts? Come on now, you gotta be a fag to do that. It's not like you go studying for a test while looking to bang some random skank. And even if they did, there's not any skanks worth nailing on the Dook campus. Besides, what dude ever got laid because of his sweater vest???

Anyways, back to the Dook-UNC crowd. I look over at one table cheering for Dook. They all had Dook gear on except this one dude (who was probably in his early 20's) and he had Florida Gator gear on. But I noticed he was cheering loud for the Dookies. I got a chuckle outta that, just because I've always heard the jokes about Dook fans rooting for other schools in football.

i'm willing to bet the student bodies at duke and iowa are generally parts of different social stratifications. you might be a wasp too, jon, but your particular form of protestantism probably involves a big tent.

I'm at a conference in Indy (FDIC) and talked to some Heel fans, they don't have a problem with it.
