A Day on Capitol Hill

We have a couple interns rotating through our office, and our Deputy Program Manager thought it might be a good idea for them to attend a Senate hearing. I went to the Hill with them, where we started by going to Joe Lieberman's office. One of his staff interns gave us the guided tour (I'd done the House tour before, but not the Senate), which included a brief visit to the Senate chamber, where Christopher Dodd (D, Connecticut) was discussing a bill about providing legal aid to low-income citizens. We caught the tail end of the session; Ken Salazar (D, Colorado) was the only other Senator besides Dodd and the woman promoting the legislation that was on the floor at the time. Passed Evan Bayh (D, Indiana) in the basement hallway, had lunch in the Russell Senate office building, then attended a Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Seapower hearing in the same building. The hearing was chaired by Ted Kennedy, with Mel Martinez (R, Florida), Susan Collins (R, Maine), and Jeff Sessions (R, Alabama) also in attendance asking questions of Navy Admiral McCullough, Marine Corps Lt. General Amos, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Logistics, Research, and Development. General Petraeus was answering questions (from Sessions, among others) in another room in the building, but I didn't get a chance to see him.
Not much else to report, and nothing terribly exciting. But it was better than spending another day at the desk.

Were any of the senators sober?
Or were you in no condition to tell?

Kennedy
did appear to have trouble walking, but I don't think booze had anything to do with. He just seems a little gimpy this days, although I'd still take him and give the points in a footrace against R_t_S. He's slimmed down quite a bit. Ted, that is.
Or were you in no condition to tell?
Unfortunately, I'm just about always unimpaired these days.

Took the family to the cherry blossom festival that just passed. DC is a good place to drag your kids.

Of course you've nothing to report. You're a husk of a dull doll. You'd make drying paint get bored.
Yea, "smackie," there was a little Senate Arms Services Committee hearing today and it was concerned with the WORST catastrophe in American history.
Are you even
awake, you dumb fucking hillbilly?
Slap yourself now. DO IT you pathetic curdled coward.
Now listen carefully to a U.S. Army general:
"It's a hell of a mess," retired Gen. Barry McCaffrey told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee last week. "The Iraqi government is dysfunctional, the Iraqi security forces are inadequate, ill-equipped, and we've got very little time. By the way, I'm not recommending we come out of Iraq in a year or three. That's what's going to happen. This thing is over."
Now look carefully at this
serious race-fanatic war-mongering criminal (on par with Ribbentrop)
Look closely!
Now
wake the fuck up!
