9 PM tonight.
The only thing that could make this show better were if HBO was doing it.

Fucking great show. What is wrong with taking home $15-$20 grand in two weeks while going face to face with mother nature. I'd fucking do it in a heartbeat.

I have a hard time believing that HBO could do it any better. I’ve been watching their reruns during the past week, and they did a nice one hour show behind the scenes. Incredible stuff. They explained how the salt water trashes all of these terribly expensive cameras each season. I also like that I don’t have to pay extra to see it as long as it’s on the Discovery channel.
“Anyone who claims that the worst day of fishing is better than the best day at work has obviously never watched The Deadliest Catch.”

No commercials means no painstaking rehash after every commercial break. Yea, I've got my DVR.
Oh, and HBO means no bleeps. And no pixelated hats/tshirts. Discovery Channel is fucking annoying with that shit.

Well, I can get through all of that stuff. Doesn't bother me, but I see you workin' with the bleeping out of the language. It would be nice to get all of the dialogue. I guess I am used to it ever since TBS attempted to air Goodfellas.

Wikipedia has an interesting article on the series:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadliest_Catch" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The show has no on-air host; instead, narrators provide commentary and verbally connect the storylines as the show shifts from one crab boat to another, through a mock-up radar transition screen that shows the boats in relation to each other and to the two ends of the fishing grounds, St. Paul Island to the north and Dutch Harbor to the south. Discovery Channel voice artist Mike Rowe, who narrates the U.S. airings of the series, was originally supposed to be the on-air host as well and had appeared in taped footage as himself during the first season of shooting; as filming of the first season was nearing completion, Discovery greenlighted production on another Rowe project, Dirty Jobs, under the condition that Rowe choose only one show upon which to appear in person. As Rowe relates the story, Discovery told him that the two shows would be airing back-to-back on the same night, thus, "'we can't have you telling us stories about six dead fishermen on camera and making a fart joke with your arm in a cow's ass.'"

You’re easily annoyed. And your kid will probably be about 4 years old when he drops his first F-bomb on you.

Yeah, his personality really does take and extreme shift to the lighter side when doing the Dirty Jobs gig. He was almost over the top on season two of Deadliest Catch with the long pauses and interviews with the crew.

I was hoping for somewhere between 2 and 3.

Anyone who claims what those people are doing is "fishing" has no fucking idea what they're talking about.
"Harvesting" and "fishing" are mutually exclusive.
I have an old, old friend who does that shit. I've known lots of them, actually. Most years, dude sits in the bar about 10 months out of the year. If it's a bad harvest, he's sitting in the bar selling drugs 10 months out of the year, or scrounging for work elsewhere.

Besides, you don't "fish" for crab, even if you are doing it recreationally, as opposed to commercial harvest.
Believe it or not, you "crab" for crab.
Fucking greenhorns.

It was a bitch try ing to sleep 50 feet above the waterline on a freaking aircraft carrier, so I can only imagine what it's like for those guys to try to get some ZZZZZ's in 10' - 20' swells. Unreal.

Like in the book Forrest Gump was smart enough to be a shrimp FARMER, he raised shrimp in ponds. Maybe these guys would have an easier time if they could find a way to farm those crabs ??

Commercia fishermen...
Sleep?
Laughing over here, boss.
Uhm, OCD... in the commercial fishing world, they have this stuff called "meth," and...
Nevermind.

The "appetite/body weight" ratio for crabs escapes me right now, but it's a bunch.
It probably wouldn't be cost effective to try and feed a crab farm.
BIG eaters.
Barely-related sidenote -- people who drop pots right outside of the bay mouths should be shot. Hey dickheads -- no one wants your pot lines wrapped around their outdrive should they happen to go out in the fog. At least go around the end of the jetty, assholes. Because it's not like a new shaft and prop cost a couple of grand, or anythign.
Assholes.

Like meth, coke, speed and it's family members are exclusive to commercial fishing.

...Okay. Personally, I kept my non-smokeable recreational drug use to the weekends. Not because of some holier-than-thou principle of wanting to do my best for my country or whatever, but because there was no way you could ever get that extra catch-up sleep you need when you come down off an upper. Hell, most of the time we never got more than about five hours of sleep at a time.
About the only time it was tempting to toot some meth was when I'd be working on a 24-hour 6 on/6 off two-man rotation fixing a piece of vital equipment. You're laying on your back in the bilge getting nailed by brackish water every time the ship takes a roll or makes a turn and sleeping on the deckplates while your food is brought down to you like you're in fucking solitary. Yeah, THEN it was tempting to hit the nose candy to stay up and just finish the job, but I like my sleep too much.
Oh, and let me just head you off at the pass and fire off a pre-emptive "no one gives a fuck" about how much more pure U&L meth is compared to SoCal meth or whatever other retarded competitive bullshit you're about to reply with. No one cares. Psst....really...no one. Not a soul. Even my ADD personality doesn't give a fuck and that fucker will give anything five seconds of his time.

Clearly you've never heard of us. We've proudly hosted at least one bathtub methlab explosion every other week or so in the early 90's.
Sin,
Norco, Victorville, Corona and Barstow
Of course, Barstow is more a way-point for messican and the bathtub shit cooked in the aforementioned cities as well as the messican shit.
Anywho, basically the only time I've ever done nose drugs of any kind was during my Navy years when I'd head up to Hollywood to party on the weekend with friends. This Australian chick, Nikki, was a full on coke-head and meth-lover (and about 60lbs overweight...go figure) had outstanding connections and did so much of the stuff that half the time she could score stuff for free even when no one had any $$. War the fu*ck out of her. So I did plenty with her and another friend of mine and haven't touched the stuff since. I was doing such I quality shite, that anything else would be a disappointment, and besides, you get to a certain age and kind of say, "Well this is dumb...I think I'll just get shit-faced instead of do too much blow one night and die at 25."

Still an entertaining program, but getting to be a bit contrived. Phil's kid using dad's credit card to get a flat screen TV? I give it one more year till it completely jumps the shark.
And Sig Hansen is cool, but Edgar steals the show.

I'd think that would be a step down after your successful whaling career.
