Broker Dealer - Small Business = Hard Times

I'm the Operations Manager of a small broker dealer and first quarter production was atrocious for the firm. We were down over 300% in new investment money from this time last year. Just got a buzz from the big guy and our insurance is being taken away.

Shit.

Im fastly becoming a democrat because of the late circumstances. Guess I'm gonna have to get back on the wife's plan after the month is up.

This could be good news for you all. I might jump over to the petro-chemical business should things get worse which means less time messageboarding.

Do all Seaworld "employees" get that dental plan where they are coaxed to the pool curb with chopped up mackerel and have their teeth brushed with an over-sized scrub brush?

Lucky you.

I'm not a recruiter. I train the reps on everything the BD has to equip them to sell our products. I also oversee all of the business that comes through here. Recruiters provide the leads.

Problem is, everyone is sitting on their money right now until they see the economy settle into a fixed pattern.

How is this possible? If you were down 100% you would be at zero.

How can you have negative "new investment". Does that just account for the smart people who are pulling their money out?

Perhaps that's why Rumps job is in jeopardy. He sucks at math.

I'd recommend a goal of becoming the "Operations Manager" at the local Denny's. You do know how to crack an egg, right? You could make me an omelet and for the first time in your life start producing something other than fake numbers.

Obviously you're "fastly becoming" an imbecile if you think that more feudalism will fix it.

Month by month basis, Mikey. The number was accumulated from that...

We were down 78% in January.
70% in February
66% in March
79% in April

Let's assume the initial number was 100 in December. That means your January number would have dropped to 22. That means your Feb number would be 15.4, not -48. And your total loss for the 2 month period would be 84.6%, not 148%.

I think even you should be able to follow the logic for the rest of the time period.

Hmm. I would have guessed that they were down 78% in January from January 2007, down 70% in February from February 2007, etc. That’s usually how they measure those dealios. It’s still retarded to add them up and get 300%. At that rate they’ll be down 900% for the year.

There's lots of ways to look at it. I pulled the number that gave my post the most dramatic effect.

If by “dramatic effect” you meant made you look like a retard, I’d have to agree.

I was trying to give RumpleHusband the benefit of the doubt. Because taking the numbers as you describe and extrapolating a 300% loss would be even more retarded.

Certainly.

(KFC Paul + Rumplewife) ÷ 2 = 378 lbs

Be careful with Rumplewife futures. I'd stick with hog nipples.

Charlize, in boardspeak, we call that last moronic statement of yours, 'Pot, meet Kettle'.

Now then, either say something worthwhile, or just shut the fuck up.

I suggest the latter.

You still reading his shit, Jay? At Mgo’s suggestion I put him on “ignore”. Board’s a bit more readable these days.

I haven't quite brought myself to use that feature just yet. I know that feeding the trolls can be a bad thing.

However, when you're feeding one of them a metaphorical fistfull of his/her own broken and bloodied teeth, it's still a little entertaining.

I will keep the "ignore" advice at the ready.

You might want to go ahead and pull the trigger. It seems that Chuckles may have been posting penis pictures today. Kind of the way that FTDC would post pictures of burgers.
