Ankiel in outfield

Effective immediately, the Cards have given up on pitching prospect Rick Ankiel, but not outfield prospect Rick Ankiel.

Out of options, Rick's gotta make the club or get thrown onto waivers.

he actually was a very good hitter at one time.


when he got sent down 2 years ago, he tore cover off the ball playing DH and LF.

With all due respect, he was sent to a low minors rookie league. If you think about it, it's quite comical that when pitchers are at the plate they look like they've never seen a bat. Don't pitchers moonlight as shortstops and outfielders when they are coming up?

I had heard that he actually could have made it as an outfielder because of his bat. It would be cool to see this dude come back in that capacity. It would make for a pretty good story.
