McFadden is signed

So reports Raiders.com.

No terms of the deal yet confirmed that I can find.

Seems the 'duds learned from last year's hold-out debacle w/JaMarcus Russell and got this deal done in short order.

Great news!

On paper, Oakland has got some pieces in place on offense for a change.

Let's roll!!

Ok, do you care to offer a take as to WHY you think that he'll be a big bust?

Not to sound like your girlfriend, but is that all you've got?

Two choices here:

1. Die (my preferred choice- I HIGHLY suggest you take that course of action)
2. Offer up a coherent reason why D-Mac will be a bust....otherwise see above.

Oh this is rich. KFC Paula demanding that posts be coherent?

BTW: Since McFadden was drafted by the Raiders, there's at least a 70% chance he'll be a bust.

Yeah, Paul scolding someone for putting up 'shit' posts is like Eddie Haskel scolding Gilbert for being a douchebag.

Good move for the Raiders. Put this behind them and move on. I still am curious what they intend on doing with Michael Bush. If I am the Texans, I cut Green and talk to Oakland about his services.

Chris Brown, Mike Bush, and Steve Slaton make for a decent backfield.

It's a nice thought for you, but Oakland won't move Bush, Rumps.
Not this year, anyway.

The only way they'd move him is if the get a good look at him in pre-season and they are SURE that he blows.

In that case you don't want him.

The way I see it playing out, ... as of today, is that Fargas will be 'named' the starter on opening day.
But Bush, McFadden and Fargas will all get into the act.

They all bring different skills.

Me like that.

6 years, 60 mil.. 23 mil guaranteed, or some ridiculous number like that. Not bad for a gang banger from North Little Rock.

'tart, you're going to be very disappointed. This isn't Marcus Allen.

Ok, I've got a little time so I give you my reasons why he'll be a bust.

He played in the SEC which has been a notoriously good defensive conference over the years. That hasn't been the case over the last two years, which happens to be the years McFadden played in the conference.

McFadden used his superior straight forward speed to run through these weak defenses and racked up some pretty impressive numbers in a historically tough conference when it comes to run defense.

I'll use Tennessee for a sample of an SEC defense last year and how they dealt with top end speed in the conference. Tennessee will work well since they were a team that was a couple plays away from winning the SEC Championship and destroyed a Georgia team which some were calling one of the best teams in the country last year, by 30 points.

In this highlight you'll see Javhid "the Jet" Best... as a comparison to McFadden speed wise. "The Jet" is faster than McFadden, being that he was the 3rd fastest 18 year old in the World coming out of high school, but you'll get the idea what speed can do in a conference where they had a hard time dealing with speed. Also ignore the FACT that "The Jet" has moves which McFadden doesn't. McFadden does well, when he can run straight forward without having to "juke" defenders.

This won't cut it in the NFL unless you have one of the best offensive lines in NFL history like AD had last year with the Minnesota Vikings. Even with that being said... when teams focused on stopping the run late in the season against the Vikings.... AD started averaging around 50 yards a game. I also use AD since he's a straight forward runner just like McFadden, but he's actually "tough" and will run you over... which McFadden won't.

Here's the sample video of why McFadden chewed up so many yards in the SEC... and remember that McFadden doesn't have near the moves that "The Jet" has but he does have similar comparable speed.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/x4dLNwSqSRk&hl ... ram><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/x4dLNwSqSRk&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/youtube]

McFadden also has this little problem with holding on to the ball when someone does touch him.... he's put it on the ground 23 times! That's not a misprint.

I also read in one of your posts where you mentioned that Bush, Fargas, and McFadden all bring something different to table. Well, I'm going to disagree and say that Fargas and McFadden are the same back with similar speed (Fargas is by no means slow). The only differences are that Fargas runs hard, doesn't put the ball on the ground as much as McFadden, and is making a hell of a lot less than McFadden!

McFadden will be making more money than LT and AD.... actually $18 million more than AD and he hasn't played a down in the NFL yet.

McFadden has what I like to think of as the "Franco Harris" disease.... you touch him, and he falls down.

Remember.... you have Kwame Harris as one of your starting tackles. This isn't going to turn out well. But hey, you have to put $60 million somewhere, why not throw it away on a bust ???

Those are my reasons.

It's a good post, 200l.

Quick counters to some of your points.

1. Jack - Yeah, McFadden's contract is large. He's the 4th overall pick and the numbers keep escalating. Check back in a couple of years and we'll see if he's overpaid or not.

2. Fumbles - Kiffin spoke to this and said they had concern about it and checked more thoroughly into it. Fact of the matter is that HALF of those fumbles came when he was either taking a shotgun snap, involved in a 'razzle dazzle' play, or on a kickoff return. As a young NFLer it's possible he'll put the ball on the ground. I hope it doesn't happen often. Wait and see.

3. Same skills as Fargas - No, not really. The one thing that they DO have in common is that they are both no-nonsense runners. They see the hole and they hit it. Fargas is a GREAT fit in the zone blocking scheme, so I believe McFadden will be too. Only difference is that when Fargas rips off a 12 yd gain McFadden has the distinct possibility of making that a 60 yd gain. Fargas is a poor receiver out of the backfield and McFadden shows GREAT promise in that area. I think you (and others) might be surprised by what he can do as a receiver.

What I expect from McFadden this year is about 12-14 carries a game, 4-6 receptions and 1 or 2 'gadget' plays or returns.
Out of those touches we hope he can rip off 1 or 2 BIG gainers.
Toss in another 4 or 5 moderate gains and it's big grin time in the Black Hole.

I think he's gonna scare the pee out of a lot of defenses, but yeah, that's looking at it with silver-tinted glasses on.

Guess we just wait and see.
