It's in Bedford, not far from Roanoake, VA. Task Force "O", seasoned vets from the 1st Infantry Division and attachments from the 29th Infantry Division, one unit the 116th Regiment pulled soldiers from the surrounding hills along the Blue Ridge. One town, Bedford, lost 19-20 out of the 35 on the beach that day. That's why they selected Bedford for the site. Bunch of hillbillies who probably didn't even know where the fuck Normandy was.


Tremendous courage of those men, the men who planned it, decided to give the go ahead., All the espionage - propaganda and LIES - involved in that mission being successful. Fascinating bit of history.
