Every team plays every team from the other conference including three home-and-home series with select opponents. In the Red Wings' case, they play the Penguins, Sabres and Thrashers twice. I'm going to assume there will be a rotation of which three opponents you play twice and the one game opponents will rotate as well with home and away.
The Wings will raise the banner on Thursday, October 9 against the Leafs...an awesome way to kick off the season. Of course, there's the Outdoor Classic at Wrigley on New Year's Day to look forward to as well. I love the new schedule format...offers the fans the opportunity to see the other conference on regular basis instead of the silly rotation format from before. Also, no more 8 games against your divisional opponents...now only 6 games.
Only two months before camp starts up again...I can't wait!
