There's a little district called Depot Town which is nestled closely to Eastern Michigan's campus. I've been coming here for years. My favorite bar actually consists of four different bars, and each serve a great atmosphere for whatever mood you're in.
This time I went to the Tiki Bar which is atop the roof of Aubree's and Sticks because it was a great day outside. It's one building consisting of three bars but same ownership. Aubree's is without question my favorite of the three. It's sports bar oriented, but has a laid back feel. Sticks is more for the younger college crowd, has some pool tables and a couple big screens. I don't go there as much these days.
Here's some pics from atop the roof of the bar.

Across the street is Sidetrack, which I also frequent quite a bit. This place has a very laid back atmosphere, a nice outdoor patio area, good selection of micros and imports, and awesome burgers. On the left hand side you'll see a train coming through...hence the name Sidetrack.

Aubree's has excellent food. Their calzones are the best I've had anywhere.
