I got dragged by the wife to the "local" renfaire yesterday. Try as I did, I found no wind chime salesmen or midgets, but I certainly did see some odd examples of human behavior, starting with this guy who obviously thought he was at a Phish concert....
And you had some combat on foot.
And on horseback. Thank God and god I had the video camera rolling when this happened. Not many times you get to see a horse roll over on someone in real life.
Heck, you even had jousting for the TVO sized set.
You had hotties serving salty spuds whilst wishing they were elsewhere.
And some Kosher Stanley Q's. No, I did not ask the vendor if they were for whites only.
And what kind of Renfaire would be complete without some costumed dork getting dumped in a pond?
Or another dork wearing chain mail for no good reason.
And lest we forget the obligatory Cicero-Tiberious sighting? Seriously, napalm couldn't have made these guys flame any more than they already were.
But the prize for the most inane way to spend a working day I have ever seen has to go to this guy we saw just as we were leaving. This guy was walking around all day, wearing makeup, on stilts and wearing that goofy looking and quite cumbersome horse costume. Good looking out Guy Fawkes. I knew that Cornell degree would come in handy.

Didn't your wife just have a baby?

Where do you suppose renfairers rank on the loser foodchain?
Somewhere between trekkies and 34 year olds that haven't moved out of their parent's house yet.
rens score extra loser points for wearing their ren gear at any place other than the fair.

Yep, she did. Why do you ask? They do sell strollers in Canada eh?

Just sayin'.
Ditto.
I think that’s probably true for all of the men here.

Yep, that was the Sterling Renaissance Faire. A little taste of the High Middle Ages smack dab in the middle of 315 country. If I had the time and energy to look, I'm certain that I could match story for story every bit of freakery PSU reports from Pittsburgh just with the police blotter reports from Wayne, Cayuga and Oswego Counties.
BTW: You could totally lock up the wind chime concession there. I didn't see a single chime anywhere.

Yeah, I've got some friends that do that show.
Did you see a booth that had Copper and bronze sculpture ranging in price from around 5 to $10,000 ?
The guys name is Billy Casteel. He's a good friend of mine and he's extremely talented. He usually walks out there with around 7 to $20,000 a weekend depending on the crowd on a given weekend.
I don't do that show because the Colorado show is going on and I've got Kansas City right after that. I can't make enough stock for that show and the others. I hear they spend a lot of money there.

I saw this...
I didn't even bother to inquire as to price, but since hats, swords and walking sticks were being sold for 100 bucks a piece and more, I'm guessing a life size copper dragon for your front yard probably retails for 10k.

It sure looked like they were raking money in hand over fist considering the number of people I saw walking around with newly purchased ren gear.

Yeah, that's Billy's work. I'm glad you were able to get a picture.
Here's another friend's myspace page.... she does the show.
I know it's a small show so you may have seen her work ?
Can't say her work rings a bell. For the most part I didn't do too much window shopping. I spent most of my time at the various exhibitions that were going on non-stop through the day.

He's a talented guy.
Since he refuses to date American women because they suck. He spends most of his 6 months a year off in Thailand bangin' hotties.
I have to agree with him.... American women need to know there place.
Asian women are god's gift to men, and if you're not in Asia, San Francisco is the next best thing.

Well, your wife probably did.
See if your wife remembers her.

I could relate if he refused to date 'em because they didn't.

Sorry, no can do. That might give her the impression that I want to go back. I just can't chance that.
