at least kevin grady's pa's bank account explains where his fat ride came from. no one can explain where the license plates for worthington's suv came from, let alone money for all that petrol.
it's really not that hard to keep your kids out of trouble. just suspend the first one that fucks up for half the year instead of half a game. michigan had a bit of discipline issues that i think was directly correlated to carr's dementia [a hunch corroborated by joepa and psu], but look elsewhere and you'll find successful programs with nary the peep coming out of them. usc pays its players to stfu and dream about the nfl, but at least we don't read much about them on the blotter. texas? perhaps, though i haven't heard much, which means it's an anomaly when one of those guys fuck up whereas it's quotidian with tressel, and that with the benefit of police willing to look the other way.

I may be wrong, but I believe I saw Texas in the Top 3 of arrests last year in CFB.
Very few top programs are clean and free of off the field issues. If you take a look at the number of arrests each year, a lot of the best programs are near the top of the list.
Last year the top 5 included Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Penn State, Texas, Florida State and I forget the rest.
Fact of the matter is when you mix in all of the pressure these coaches are under thanks to jackass fans and then factor in that these teams are filled with about 90 18-22 year old kids, you're going to have some off the field issues regardless of how strict the coach is. It's bound to happen in certain years at almost any school.

See JON, this is why you’re widely regarded as a complete tool. Your top 5 includes 6 teams, plus some others that you can’t remember. Wow. Just, wow.

Hahaha! After I posted that I wondered how long it would take for someone to catch that. I was going to edit it but I thought it would be funny to wait for someone to catch it. I meant Top 10, not 5.

If you mean that Paterno has lost touch with what his players are doing, I must agree.

as someone who teaches college students, the "out of touch" curve is about 5 years right now, max. I can't really blame Joe.
1. individual communications technologies/social networking
2. anything since 9/11, historical imagination among young people is about 7-8 years with some vague (manufactured) ideas about WW2.
3. unflappable belief in human progress (see #1). if i had a dollar for every student paper that said "it must have been so boring....before x,y,z" (since entertainment is the telos of humanity)...or better, "i feel so lucky to be alive today".
if it weren't for the kids who dig the CU radio station, i'd be done with this here crap.

Ohio State defensive backs Donald Washington and Jamario O'Neal have been suspended for the first two games of the season, the players told reporters Thursday at media day.
Multiple news outlets reported Thursday night that the players confirmed their suspensions but did not elaborate on the reason for punishment. There has been no official announcement from the team.
Washington is a starting cornerback for the Buckeyes. O'Neal is a reserve at strong safety.
The two will miss games against Youngstown State and Ohio before being allowed to return Sept. 13 at USC.
Both players were held out of portions of spring practice for undisclosed reasons.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said only that they needed to "earn their car keys back."
The Buckeyes secondary is already without Eugene Clifford, who transferred shortly after an assault arrest, and James Scott, who is not participating in training camp.
Washington has made 22 career starts, including all 13 games last year. He has 80 career tackles and an interception. Sophomore Chimdi Chekwa, listed ahead of Washington on the preseason depth chart, likely will start in his place against Youngstown State and Ohio.

Way to get them back on the field on time for the SC tilt after bravely pining them for the YSU and OU clashes

Gee Steve...let's see if St. DICK ROD suspends anyone for a big game...by the way what punishment did Grady ever get? Link me up to that...TIA...
notice you didn't take umbrage at Mark Richt for only suspending most of his players for the first game on UGA's schedule against GA Southern but yet having them back in time for the ASU game...etc...

The really funny thing is that the rumor going around is that they got busted for weed, before the NC game.
If true, that's awful.

Grady's participating in practice and will be suspended some game time. It has yet to be determined how much gametime but we can get into it when the punishment is handed down.
Jon,
Martin has been dead for several years and that stuff is over 15 years old, hell most of the fab5 is retired from the NBA by now.

Hey, I've on many occasions gone off on USC, FSU, etc..... I believe that is my first Michigan cheater comment I've ever made on here so it's not like that classifies as an obsession.
