I liked seeing the CHI/KC game as the lead story on baseball tonight, especially after that 14-3 beatdown and taking two of three. As for Olivo, dude... if you're going to charge the mound, then tackle the SoB, don't stop and say "put up your dukes". As basebrawls go, that was pretty weak.

Oh, and John Kruk is an idiot, saying the Royals are a last place team and don't have anything to lose in a brawl (like suspensions, injuries, etc.) and the White Sox do 'cause they're in first. This is something I've been wanting to see for YEARS. Some fire in this team. Royals always just lay down and take it. Now maybe we've got a couple of guys that don't just take it up the ass.

Carrasco was definitely throwing at Olivo. No doubt about it. Pitches slip.....it happens. But 3 straight pitches in on him (2 up at his head). That rarely happens. Zack threw at Swisher for sure, and he deserved to be tossed but he had to do it.

The more I watch Mike Aviles play the more pissed off I get because he's the exact player that proves how pathetic this organization is. Everyone in the organization just ASSUMED he'd never make it in the bigs because he wasn't a high draft pick or considered nationwide as a top prospect. Guys like Aviles only get to the bigs in KC if the big league club has no other choice. I've been saying this for years.......the Kansas City Royals will NEVER win until they learn to find the hidden gems in their farm system. And this is an organization that absolutely refuses to do that. Hopefully with Aviles' hot hitting, they'll learn that Baseball America's top prospects aren't the only guys that can play.

Aviles just didn't come up soon enough. TPJ jerks off Trey and Dayton daily in exchange for playing time so Aviles had to sit in AAA for half the year. It's too bad because he could have been a guy with 20-25 HR's, 100 RBI's and a .320 batting average and that would have been good enough even with the great rookie year Eva Longoria-Parker is having.

I'm really starting to love the heart this team is showing. There's just no quit in them like previous Royals teams. They're slowly starting to put things together. Young guys are finally showing some promise. Defensively, this team is still the Bad News Bears far too often, but overall this is a much improved team. I'm not predicting the playoffs as I think that's a far fetched dream, but I do want to see this team battle like it's in a playoff chase. With 3 games against Minnesota and Chicago in the next week, we've got a shot to put ourselves into contention and even though I don't see this team winning the division I think the experience of a sort of playoff race would be a good experience for this young team.

It's hard to say who is the best rookie in the AL not named Evan Longoria...Aviles would be in the discussion but I wouldn't put him at the top of the list. I would probably say David Murphy with the Rangers is the current runner-up. He leads all AL rookies in hits, doubles and RBI and he's one run behind Ellsbury for most runs scored.

My homer pick would be Galarraga...at least as the best AL rookie pitcher. It's not been a great year for rookie pitchers in the junior circuit but I'd argue he's been the best. He has the most wins for rookie pitchers and he's 7th in the entire AL in ERA.

Good call on Murphy… I keep forgetting he's eligible because he spent time in the bigs in 06 and 07. For someone who was an average prospect at best in the Sux organization (never hit above .280 or 15 HR in any full minor league season)… dude has performed above and beyond expectations.
