Consumer products that work and those that don't

Yes, there's tons of stuff in the stores advertized to do everything from whitening teeth to removing lime and rust from the bathtub, with varying results. Pretty much, very few products live up to their billing.
For instance, you can go to Wal-Mart and the shelves are lined with all manner of pet health care products. Specifically, all different types of sprays, powders, shampoos, collars, etc. advertised to kill fleas. These products aren't cheap and gullible fools (sup me?) have bought them.
Problem is, they don't fucking work, at least not on the fleas on KC dogs. Maybe that stuff works in the U&L or on SEC dawgs, but midwestern fleas laugh at that shit.
Nope, if you want something that actually works, you have to go to the vet and buy some Frontline or Advantix and pay an arm and a leg... but at least it works.
So anyways, what are some of the products you've used that work, and which ones suck?
Consider this thread T1B's version of Consumer Reports.

How much is the Frontline? Maybe you can get it on the internet cheaper. (PetMeds).
Luckily my dog doesn't get fleas.

What does it matter when the bulk of it is just laying there on your belly?

$54.49 with tax for 3 vials and no, PetMeds isn't any cheaper, even though they offer free shipping.
Luckily my dog doesn't get fleas.
How's that? They don't have fleas in SoCal, or do you never let the poor schmuck outside?

The cheap shit works on fleas round here. Maybe the fleas in KC, when doused with the stuff, just tell the shit IKYABWAI and get BODE.

He's cool like that. Actually I don't know why he has never had fleas. Probably because he has a really thick coat. He also doesn't really get that hot. He's a siberian husky.

This reminded me of the fellow who headed off to Alaska a skinny young man, and came back a husky fucker.
