Being only about 2 hours from Clemtech...story goes...

early on in Fall Camp...Bowers is lined up across from a OL at Clemson...OL says to Bowers welcome to college football...Bowers then proceeds to knock said OL on his ass...and says welcome to the NFL...

that is the story...

Sam,

If somehow Alabama pulls a miraculous upset against Clemson (doubtful anyways), we're not going to have to listen to Bama fan predicting a BCS berth like we did early on last year before they proceeded to go 6-6, are we???

Bama can beat Clemson

Clemson are highly overrated

But if you a football fan, that's the game i might flip to during the commercial break of MU-illini.

Gamebreakers and playmakers on both sides, 2 ranked teams, that would beat the crap out of Clemson and Bama.

Even if i had no dog in this fight, Bama-clemson game would be 2nd, possibly 3rd on my list. yipeeee average Bama team vs an overrated Clemson team.

Not sure why you re-wrote your original post to basically still say the same thing, Adel. But either way, I have to agree. Illinois-Misery is the more interesting matchup.

last post was a homer rant. went with neutralish approach

i think Michigan st vs Cal will be a better matchup than clemson-bama. and could be the best of all of the weekends games.

but watching Benn and Maclin will be a treat.

I posted some of the games I like in the Poker/Gambling forum...

I like Michigan State +4.5...Ringer is going to run all over Cal

Bama/Clemson
MSU/Cal
Mizzou/Illinois

Terrific opening Saturday salvos, but ugh...I wish they could've staggered 'em somehow. I'd like to see each one.

I've been homering for MSU in this one quite a bit, but there are so many possible scenarios that could play out -- I truly have no idea what to expect. I would predict that both teams struggle a bit out of the gate but put up some points in the 2nd half. MSU has struggled mightily in the past on west coast trips...or anywhere west of the Central Time Zone for that matter. I think both teams are pretty evenly matched, so it could be that home field advantage that gets the job done for Cal. I think MSU has the talent/experience and coaching to win so I'm going to stick with my homer selection.

Uhhh, Tivo or DVR. That is why there are Sundays. I prolly watch 6 college games on Sunday on DVR.

Are there ever 6 watchable college games the first few weeks??

There's no marquee games in week one and only a handful of games I'll watch. Going to the Iowa game. Maybe catch part of the cripple fight in Ann Arbor. Alabama/Clemson is okay, nothing special. Best game by far is Missouri/Illinois and I wouldn't exactly call that a huge game. MSU/Cal......eh. UCLA/Tennessee on Monday isn't a bad game.

September college football has become almost unwatchable. Seeing power houses playing 1-AA opponents or bottom feeding Sun Belt teams just doesn't excite me. Saturday's Iowa-Maine game for me is more about kicking back, drinking a few cold ones, and grilling up some steaks with the fellas. The game itself? Merely a glorified scrimmage. By halftime I'll most likely be begging for the game to get over so I can crack open another beer. It's a pointless game. Proves nothing, helps prepare this team for nothing.

Wake me when conference play starts......

Regional coverage, my friend. I'm in Big Ten country so I won't get to see the Bama/Clemson game, period.

If you're a fan of Cal, MSU, Bama, Clemson, etc., those are some pretty "watchable" games. Considering your team opens with Maine, I can see why you're so uninterested.

Uhhh, $9 a week or $98 for the season and you can watch all of them.

Uhhh, I realize that. I'd rather put that money towards other things.

Let me put it to you this way. I enjoy watching whatever's on, but I'm not going to pay extra or go out of my way to see additional games. My time is already consumed watching a lot of CFB, but I also like to get out on the weekends and enjoy our beautiful Fall days.

Has nothing to do with Iowa. College football in general. I can get excited for Iowa games regardless of who we play, though I must admit in games like this I'm ready for it to be over about the time halftime rolls around.
Aw, I don't know, JON. I think Iowa can hang in there for at least a half.
We have 3 starters out due to injury, so I'll have my excuse ready on Monday should we happen to lose! Seriously though, I look for Maine to at least keep it within 28 in the first half. That's pretty much the extent of my analysis on this game!

In an odd way, I kinda like it that way.

If I had unlimited TV access, I'd probably watch way too many PAC10 games. As it is, I see a good variety of teams, some of which I'd never see if I had other choices.

Here Out West, there's usually a good SEC matchup early in the morning, then generally a Big10 game after that, then the afternoon is ripe with PAC10 action. Often, they show a SEC game in the late afternoon/early evening, as well. And as much as I bash the SEC, I love watching SEC games almost as much as PAC10 games. The only thing really missing is much mid-major coverage -- but if I had unlimited TV access, I probably wouldn't watch many mid-major matchups anyway.

BTW-BODE be unto the Left Coast -- I can hop out of bed hungover on a Saturday morning, and immediately dive into a game, usually SEC, at 9:30AM, and keep the ball rolling until late at night... and if there's a Hawaii home game on... it's an all-nighter.

More BODE to God's Country. I don't have to get up until 11:00. Even then, I don't have to leave the bed as I have a satellite receiver in the bedroom.

Out of me......I knew I was full of crap but this takes it to new heights......
This will be a game until they kickoff. The Hoos are terrible and condom fan shouldn't get too excited about beating a crappy team. It's too bad they have to fly so far to do it.

"neutralish", eh?

More like nuetered..

Seriously, why the fuck even bother wasting 5 seconds of precious time being nuetral? Trying to score some board cred points?

Fuck that, and fuck you, you complete sentence deprived pussy.

There's only ONE game that matters to me on Saturday...

Yeah, I'm pretty excited for that Ohio-Wyoming matchup too. Should be a good one.
